You need to get one of these. Can be a bit awkward to hook it up though.

I'm not sure what you mean!?

Are you talking about using a PC monitor with an Xbox? Or are you talking about running XBox games on a PC?

Second, are you talking about an XBox or an XBox360?

The Xbox 360 VGA cable is what you're looking for. Those are the official ones, you can get cheaper ones on eBay.

A monitor is just a screen. It's not a PC.

Laptops have their screen built-in. It's not a monitor. Besides, no one calls a laptop a PC. They call it a laptop. PC is generally known as a desktop.

Nowadays most pc monitors are just another LCD display, the same thing you watch your television, dvds, console games on. Although you do need the special VGA or DVI adaptor cable because MS is greedy and designed the Xbox to use a nonstandard connector and insist you having to buy their MS cable to play on your monitor.

You can't connect a device into the laptop's monitor with a VGA cord... when I linked it I thought you were talking about a regular PC monitor.

Why do you want to hook up your Xbox to a laptop? Don't you have a tv?

The Laptop VGA is output, not input, so it won't work like that.

You are going to need some sort of capture card, you have a VGA port on the laptop, but it for output only. Even if you do get a card, its not going to work for gaming, there will be a processing delay between what the Xbox outputs and what gets displayed on the laptops screen. The capture card doesnt output directly to the screen, it sends it to the laptop and it has to actually "think" about what it is going to display. I saw this is action a few years back when a friend bought a new Toshiba with video input, it made just enough of a delay to make the games unplayable.
