Does the HD-DVD add-on for the 360 up-convert DVDs??X360PS3AMD05
If you use the VGA cable, or have an elite 360 and use HDMI, the native 360 drive will be able to upscale DVD's as well. I believe the HD-DVD drive for the 360 should be able to up-convert DVD's, but not having one of my own, I can't be sure.

You are correct. Only via VGA or HDMI.
The drive is just a drive, it only reads, the device that decodes and upscales is the 360, so if played from the add-on or the internal drive the upscaling is the same either way.
