The 6800 series are the 'Barts' cores, the 'Caymans' are the 6900 series i believe. But nice to see a vendor card picture will be picking either a 6800 or 6900 series card up very soon.
yeah im looking at the 6970 myself as its replacing the 5870 but the one thing that has me worried is by changing the numbers are they going to try and charge more as in the 6970 will cost the same as the 5970 :( im hoping not, also by the way what is the 6990? is it the dual card
WAOH! hold on, back the **** up. i only see one crossfire bridge
WTH! theres only one. i dont think this is a good move

Realistically, do you seriously need any more 2?
that's a useless question, realistically do you need a 6870?
No, but people still want it. Much like how some would like to crossfire the hell out of it
That thing looks enormous. And what the hell is up with the vent? Do that thing have a jet engine in it?
Why would you go for tri-CF or more on a mid range card? You'd get better performance (and probably better price) by going with 2 card CF with high end cards.WAOH! hold on, back the **** up. i only see one crossfire bridge

well the 6870 IS going to be thier new mid range high roller card while the 6850 based on roughly the same everything will be replacing the 5830.. last time i check the 5830 only works in 2 card cfx not 3 or 4

I read that the 6870 was the replacement for the 5770 while the 6970/6950 would be the replacement for the 5870/5850 respectively. Or am I wrong? :)[QUOTE="ionusX"][QUOTE="matte3560"] Why would you go for tri-CF or more on a mid range card? I could give a crap about how the card looks....what about how it performs? I want them benchmarks! Seriously though, thanks for the post - it's good for those people that like how things look.....I just couldn't care less.http://www.techpowerup.com/132790/XFX-Radeon-HD-6870-Smiles-for-the-Camera.html

a card can really move in the market if its tarted up like a fox.. otherwise they wouldnt bother making a card look sophisticated with card art and fancy boxes..
and it certainly does beg the question to be asked.. what can we expect this year visually. i keep all my old card simply to marvel at them.. its not exactly easy to make box art or card art that is appealing. and XFX have some of the best their is.. easy.
IonusX is have a question for since you are the wisest among these boards.
The leaked benchies we saw from the 6870 for Crysis, that was in fact the 6770 right? The bart series supposed to replace the 5770.
I know that the 6870 is now gonna be called the 6970 right? So those leaked benchies we saw that for the bart or the cayman series?

the crysis benchies are now for the hd 6970 not the 6870.. and any 6770 benchies are for the 6870
in short it files down the line.
I see so that was the 6970, didnt see that much of an improvement over the 5970. hopefully the 6990 will be alot more powerfull and ill get that for £450 ($720)i hope.
For being at the same process node (40nm) and being single gpu as opposed to dual gpu, it is impressive. Obviously assuming those leaked Cayman benchies arent fake.I see so that was the 6970, didnt see that much of an improvement over the 5970. hopefully the 6990 will be alot more powerfull and ill get that for £450 ($720)i hope.

you have to remember that the 6970 is replacing the 5870 so the fact that its at 5970 performance is pretty great, not too sure but isnt the 6990 the replacement for the 5970?
