I have a choice b/t the two, and I'm just wondering which can run the most recent games (AoC) faster...and which is better for everyday computing. Vista looks flashier, but i'm wondering which has better raw performance...

Vista is a hog, but they both game about the same if you have more than 2 GB of ram and a Dual Core processor.

XP will always be a little faster then Vista, but it's nothing significant if you have a decent computer. If you're planning on building a gaming rig then go Vista, you might run games a whole 1-3 fps slower but who cares, it's not like you'll notice.

At this point in time Vista has matured into a pretty solid OS and it would be dumb to build a new computer and install a 7 year old OS (Windows XP). Stick with Vista, it's prettier to look at, it feels more modern, it has a bunch of useful features, it's really stable, it has Direct X 10, etc....

I would say go to Vista and the x64 version specifically. Your better off switching sooner then later.
