Right now I have an 8800GTS 512, I have some extra money and was wondering if I should get the new 4870 (not the X2 cause its too expensive). Games that I am planning on getting when they are released, Far Cry 2, Fallout 3, Maybe Crysis Warhead depening on what the MP is like. Clear Sky, and then next year I want Demi-God DoW 2... so I want a card that will last. I hear that the 4870 runs hot, but you can manually adjust the fan settings which helps a lot. .. Would you wait or upgrade?

My wife wants me to get a PS3 cause of the blu-ray player and she like some of the platformer games... i dunno.

I would upgrade unless you have an EVGA 8800GTS bought within the last 3 months on which case I would use the step up program from EVGA to get a GTX280 and save your self some money.

I guess I am... Either way I will be upgrading probably by the end of the year... I may wait and see If I can save some money, but then again buying a PS3 isnt really saving anything.

well, my suggestion is to get a BD-ROM drive and a new video card. but thats the low and expensive road

you could get the ps3 now with a game or two to hold you over, and let your wife watch movies to her hearts content, and wait for a new line of graphics cards to release while you build up a budget, or at least wait and by the time any of those games come out, the graphics cards you speak of now will probably be a bit cheaper.

in my opinion, graphics cards are like the madden series, after a new one comes out at 59.99, the madden from the year before is only like 20.00. but if you get the one from the year before, its so obsolete that no one plays it anymore.

the ps3 on the other hand will always be somewhere around the same price, for awhile anyway.

ya, you should be set for a few more months.

but tell your wife that chick flicks on blu ray arent any different than they are on DVD, aside from the fact you can see everyone's sweat glands. Blu ray is better for movies with sweet special effects
