Now, for the record, I LOVE Steam. I use it daily, if anything as a chatting software to talk to buddies in games (love the chatting system, and have for years). But in all seriousness, I haven't bought a single game from Steam in...months. 90% of the sales for quite awhile have seemed...dull, or if anything just done so much in the past everyone already has it. Like, Metro 2033 is on sale this weekend, great game but like it's 2,813,298 time being on sale.

I have just been spending money on other sites more recently, namely D2D. If I had a choice of service with same price, I would choose Steam in a heartbeat. But my goodness, D2D is wrecking shop with all their deals, and they do not get mentioned much around these forums, but many of their weekly sales they have going on are great too. Just thought about this when I thinking "When was the last time I actually bought something from Steam?" recently.

I buy from wherever I can find the price to my liking.. Just preordered Witcher 2 on D2d for 33 dollars. Amazon is also nice.

I don't play many games but I do like to have them all in one spot. Even if D2D or Impulse or whatever have better deals I want all my games on one platform. I started with steam so I will stay with steam (unless it becomes seriously outclassed) :P

I just bought Grand Theft Auto Episodes From Liberty City Sunday for $7.49. So no I am not getting tired of Steam. In fact, I have been using it for years and have embraced it more this year than any time in the past.

Nahh haven't done anything to diverge from steam. D2D does offer some pretty good deals for sure but usually whenever I shop there I'm looking for games that uses steam so I could just register the key onto that. Worked for me with Shogun 2.

Steam's best left for big deals on slightly older games, wouldn't generally get a pre-order from it.

If steam has the same price for a game as another site that doesn't require a crappy DRM program to be running to play it, I will get it off of that site. D2D is the site I mainly get my digital downloads from. I only buy from steam for sales because I hate the DRM.

Thread is definately a wake-up call to exactly how successful Steam really is for me. Glad you guys are having such a great time with it. I just noticed I havent bought anything in months from them because I always found it elsewhere cheaper. Can't argue about having the game library in one spot argument, although if I do buy a game elsewhere I usually place it on steam anyways. Since it accepts outside programs as well.

I bought GTA IV on sale last week. To my surprise it runs really well, like 30 FPS consistently. It looks okay. I'm just glad to be able to finally play it.

I diverge from Steam until the steam summer and winter sales come along. Amazon.com, Direct2Drive, and GamersGate does a great job and offering some of the best deals throughout the year. But I do buy less from Steam than any other download service though.

I've bought a few from GOG, and I am this very minute in the process of buying Metro 2033 from Gamersgate.

But 99% of my digital purchases are from Steam.

Nope.

Only reason I use Impulse is that it carries a small sliver of games that Steam doesn't.

Otherwise I'm pure Steam:

-Best deals, and a lot of them.

-Great selection.

-Lack of bull **** when it comes to when, where, and how many times I can download. My first, last, and only experience with D2D involved me buying Titan Quest from them, having to reformat my hard drive a little later, and then them saying I'd have to rebuy it, because I'd already reached my download limit of one (1).

I don't think so D2D... You just lost a customer, forever.

I'll only buy retail versions then register them on Steam if I have the option. Of the last four - Portal 2, Bulletstorm, Men of War: AS, Shogun 2 - three registered so those are some serious odds.

I can't stop using Steam... I just bought Dungeon Siege III and I don't even like the first 2 :C I guess deep down inside I'm still trying to find stuff to keep me busy til Diablo 3. I also just bought Section 8 Prejudice cause it looks interesting and saw a bit of it from TotalBiscuit.

I have never been exclusive to Steam. Close systems like that and DRM drive me up a wall ever since a game with Securom locked me out of something I owned. It should come as no shock that Good Old Games gets the majority of my purchases with Steam for newer games since most aren't worth a second run through.

About 80% of my stuff is from Steam.

10% from impulse, 5% from D2D, 4% from gog.com and SCII (and eventually Diablo 3) from Battlenet.

Steam get most of my sales, but Impulse gets my money for Stardock stuff and a few other strategy games, D2D get's my money for Sims stuff and whenever there's a really good deal. gog.com gets my classic gaming money - with the exception of the Witcher 2 which I pre-ordered from there. And Battlenet is basically forced on me by Blizzard.

I have been buying less on Steam lately, but I attribute that more to the fact that I am finally realizing how much of a backlog I have and asking myself if I really need this game now before I buy anything.

I have consistent mix between

EADM, Steam, Retail, andGFWL.

I guess one day I will try D2D. Is customer support from D2D good? Do they respond to emails when issues arise?

I buy mostly from STEAM 75% of my library was bought on sale. Sometime from GoG, D2D, and Gamestop. However any must have game I still buy retail......then usually re buy a year or two later on STEAM ( on sale of course ) I have 214 games on STEAM... And STEAM has already stated in case of it going under ( doubtful ) or asteroid strike... or even zombie apocalypse that a patch to release all games from STEAM activation or use has already been made.

I'm cheap so I only buy at the lowest price possible..Last game I bought on Steam was probably during the holiday sale.

I did buy Mafia II off D2D for $6 & I remember Steam had it at $10 couple months ago..

Steam is the one I buy most of my games from...

Then comes D2D, and Gamersgate as well as Amazond Digital Distribution. (in no particular order) They all have their strong points and weaknesses. Great sales appear on all of them.

I don't buy physical copies anymore.

Is Brink's DRM Steam? or is it only when you buy it on steam...38 dollars is very tempting.

I do believe brink and Rage for example are steamworks games. AKA.. you will activate the game on STEAM with a Key. Steam must be used for these games regardless where you get them from.. A example is what I did. I got shogun 2 total War a couple weeks before release off D2D. On release, I was given a key and I simply activated it on STEAM and started downloading. Bam.. Saved myself 10 dollars as I bought it with a 20% discount off of D2D.

No. I buy my games from Steam, Gamersgate, Impluse, GoG, Direct 2 Drive, and Retail. I use to be a Steam-Only person because it was convenient to have them in one spot but eh, it is not worth the premium price. So Now I just buy from everywhere.
