im thirteen and im one of the very few pc gamers in my school, lol there all upsest with consoles and they probably dont know what a graphics card does, me and my friends play online and we dont act like aholes, infact i hardly talk, now days online.
I can understand a lot of the complaints about young gamers being more immature than older ones. Although not always true, the sterotype is founded on solid evidence. Younger people tend to be more excitable in general than older people. Just think about the difference between a 13 year old and a 23 year old (like me.) Saying that someone is immature is not a critique on intelligence or personal qualities. Its just a factor of age that has been true forever. Maturity is related to life experiences and time spent in life. This explains for children maturing quicker than their age belies. Children can experience a lot in their years and act older than their age.
My gaming group has an age limit of 18 because we are only looking for certain types of people. We don't all hate younger children. We just recognize the differences between young and old.
Wow, more people saying they're 13 than I imagined. Well then, I'm 13 too and that thing earlier about 13 year old kids not knowing anything about PC gaming is complete madness.
This entire thread makes me feel old, it's mildly disturbing to think of games created when the thread starter was an infant are still relatively "modern" releases in my mind.
I started playing video games at 3-4 on the NES with SMB3, I have an atair 2600 also, im 21 now and just started PC gaming in 2004 and don't see myself quitting anytime soon.
18 here. First computer game was Warcraft II when I was 7 =), my god I played that game to death. Next games were BG, JK1, and Fallout 2. Yeah my older friend had good taste in games ^^.
And had an old NES as well, duck hunt, mario 1-3 good times, good times. I played that and the numerous segas and SNESs sinse I was 3. I was born a gamer, in my blood on both sides =P.
I started when I was like 4? I'm 14 now so I guess I've been playing for 10 years. I think most kids are console gamers because its much less complicated than PCs. Instead of having to upgrade from time to time they would rather just buy the new system that's out. I also don't think many people know how to do cool things with their games, (Installing Mods Etc.) Either that or don't have the Patience to do so.
I'm 14. I started gaming when i was 3 on the n64, and started pc gaming when i was 10. My first pc game was AVP2, then i got serious, and bought a 4k computer in November of 2007. Also to those who say younger gamers are immature i agree that we younger people tend to be a bit more.........energetic, but the majority of immature gamers use consoles. That's what i see at least. Many people on Halo 3 for example do unusual things like yelling or make disturbing noises. I only know 5 PC gamers in my school, but i also like console games its just that most people don't realize that their console games were originally made on the PC so they tend to be a bit more uh let's just say ignorant.
Yeh...this all coming from a buncha 13 year olds...ofcourse your not going to say your not immature.
I have a 13 year old in my clan (WC3) and hes got very bad manner, talks a lot, and always tries to impress people by saying a lot of BS. Hes kinda annoying too.

Just letting you know. Sometimes you can have better online gaming with people who aren't your own age, so don't worry too much about the age of the people you wish to play with worry about their attitude and online behaviour.
i am 17 and been playing video games sinds i remember.. Tho i am 17 i act like a 13 year old like in class today me and the guys where hereing some hardstyle and then the girls came and would hear some gay music. okey thats fine but i couldent stand chancing the song and they went so angry and it is so funny!!!I love being young and even when i grow 40 i will be like a 13 year old ^^

Hmmmm....I started with snake,xenon,paratrooper,dig dug,saboter,digger etc.I belong in the stoneage!!!But i'm 25.I think i will be a gamer until i die!!!;):P
