I heard a lot of people calling dead island dissapointing, but I personally enjoyed the game greatly. The combat was intense and far from simplistic, the rpg ellements blended into gameplay nicelly, the suroundings looked beautiful. So I would like to hear your own personal opinion about dead island.

Think it was a fantastic game. Sure, it had flaws, but overall the scope and overall mechanics were simply great. I think I sunk 50-60 hours into the game in all which is quite a lot for me.

It's the best zombie game we have so far imo and it's one of the best games of last year, certainly one of the best CO-OP games ever made. Sure it was rough in certain places (animations for example), but It had only one real problem, the bloom, got used to it tho, the game was just too good to care about bloom, it's a game nobody should miss.

IT is a very good game, with a brilliant vision. It just had a few design flaws, and it kind of lost its track around the end of 2nd act start of 3rd. Nothin serious but enough to be slightly annoying.

Overall one of the best games last year for me. Likely THE best zombie game weve come across sofar.

I enjoyed it even though I played through most of it by myself. I liked the idea behind it but like others have mentioned it was a little rough around the edges but a normal person could over look those.

I don't even like zombies and Dead Island is the best purchase I made last year. Brilliant vision, some design and execution flaws but overall a fantastic experience.

Also every game needs gore comparable to Dead Island's. Watching the flesh burn and melt away or breaking bones was amazing.

Dead Island is probably the worst game of the year compared to the hype before it came out. I know they told us that the trailer was a prerendered movie but it being so far from the actual game is ridiculous. Its like buying the chassis of a Lamborghini with a Ford T engine and interior. i tried playing but after 2-3 hours i just couldn´t take how bad it was, the driving, the action, the battle mechanics and the whole "kinda" open world play which was so small that you wonder why even call it open world. So if i were a reviewer it would have gotten 2 out of 10.

If you try to make analogies, be sure you have logic behind them, it's the other way around and they never told you pre-rendered trailers are gameplay.

Dead Rising is nonsense, I am not talking about DR 1 or 2, obviously, nobody would talk about mindless games without reasons to advance, it's the kind of game you play for 2-3 hours then drop because you've experienced everything it wanted you to.

Hmm, what did i just write? you can understand basic english right?

I wrote they told us that the trailer was a pre-rendered movie and it was not acual gameplay.they didn´t say it would just be a movie to create a atmosphere and not showcase anything related to the game except the hotel and the zombies.

But your entitled to your opinon. i just dont get why you think Dead Island is that good, the gameplay, mechanics, weaponsystem is like we are playing a 90´s game.

There's character level requirements on weapons as they level up (weapons have a required level to use based on power), but I am pretty sure there's no skill requirements. That's not unlike damn near every other RPG out there though. Just like you can't use higher level items in Diablo 2 until a certain level.

Anyways here's a lead pipe from the start of the game that requires nothing to use.

When you find things in game, the vast (and I mean vast) majority of items you will be able to use immediatly...in fact most items you find (like 99%) are under your level.

As far as skills go...there's no skill required to use lead pipes...leveling up blunt type skills merely improves the damage you do with them.

Things are in place for a very very good game. It was a bit repetative though imo.

Fun for awhile if ya have a friedn to play with though.

I think if it had a better story, better animations, some more interesting characteres, more variety and more things to do I think it would be alot better.

Good fun to be had with a friend though in coop!

You are right, because you played the game. You can't get weapons that aren't within your level range, the only weapons you might find with several levels above are excellent weapons or w/e they called them that are pretty hard to get.

Exactly as Daniel said, you can use lead pipes,etc.. just nto things that are for higher level players (ala most rpgs... diablo,etc.. you cant use every weapon because some have level requirements).

One of the great things about this game is that you can use any weapon. Even if you're not specialized they still feel good to use. I played as the black dude but enjoyed cutting off limbs and heads too. It may sound stupid but I often toyed with the slower zombies, hacking and slashing at them for minutes lol

Well, I thought I was going to enjoy it. I rented it (for PS3) the day it came out and spent 6 hours straight playing it. Unfortunately, due to the "save" bug, pretty much NONE of my progress was saved. The next day my level 12 character was only level 2! So I raged and took the game back. And now I'll never buy another game from Deep Silver or Techland.

I had a lot of fun with it but I was put off my the settings/levels.. the repetitive sewer levels and the prison level were terrible and that was towards the end of the game. The ending was a cliffhanger. The game had a A LOT of bugs, of which I hotfixed myself to get the game running the way I wanted it. A bit of a hassle but I felt it was worth the effort. I would recommend it to any zombie fan.

Bought on sale. I am not a fan. I really don't like the fact that the maps repopulate with zombies and loot every time you go into a safe zone. It wouldn't be so bad if the new zombies were randomly placed, giving the illusion that a new horde roamed in, but they aren't. The zombies are always the exact same ones in the exact same place. I must've killed the porno zombies in the bungalo 3-4 times yet each time I'd come back, there they were again. One chained up to the bed, the other slumped on the ground by the video camera.

It makes even less sense that the suitcases I'd already rummaged through are constantly being restocked and closed again. I guess there's some magical loot fairy with OCD flitting about and replacing cash in wallets and zipping suitcases back up every time I go off for a nap.

Its fun but buggy and incomplete feeling.

The story and characters are just terrible and feel like afterthoughts with the developers focusing too much on melodrama, the difficulty is uneven with the whole "die and respawn with less cash" thing just being a terrible death mechanic for a co-op focused survival horror game, and its buggy as hell when it comes to losing important items or being unable to progress.

The combat is incredibly fun though, as are the RPG mechanics and its definitely best played in co-op (though still works well solo, which is more then can be said for many other co-op games).

Actually that's not how it works, pretty much most weapons have a level requirement. Trust me, there really are lead pipes and broken pieces of glass that require you to be level 18 or whatever, same with weapons that otherwise work the same.

I think it's underrated. My brother and I had so much fun playing it, it was definitely one of the better zombie games we played.

For a game thats supposed to be buggy as hell we didn't encounter any glitches at all during our playthrough. Maybe we just got lucky or the worst was patched...

I really wanted to like the game but it just felt hollow to me, like something was missing. The quests being uninspired FedEx fetch quests didn't help matters, either. The game also had a pretty strong Borderlands vibe, which is another game I really wanted to like but didn't. I only paid around $15 for Dead Island so it wasn't a big loss. If I had paid full price I'd probably feel a little more irate.

Similar to how I felt with it, except I really liked Borderlands. Dead Island is probably much better off playing with friends, playing alone just feels lacking.
