First gaming pc not sure i could play any game i wanted, had that in 2007, then ingreted, now two 460's
1. ATI Rage 2MB (1998 - 2003)
2. S3 Savage integrated 16MB (2003 - 2005)
3. Geforce 4 MX 440 SE 64MB (2005) /used for 2 months then it died
4. ATI Radeon 9550 SE 64MB (2005) /used for only 1 month
5. Geforce 6600GT 128MB (2006 - 2008 )
6. Geforce 8600GT 256MB (2008 - 2010)
7. ATI Radeon HD 4670 512MB (2010 - present)
This thread really got me thinking about how I felt when I started gaming on pc. Here goes.
ati 9700 pro
ati 9800 pro
ati x800pro flashed to xt platinum edition speed
ati 1600pro
nvidia 8800gt
ati 4870 1gb.
Now using a gtx 470. I may have had an ati x1900 but I can't 100 percent remember.
Mine:
1) Integrated 64MB SIS Chipset - Managed SimCity 4 (not full settings) Half-Life 1 and Counter Strike (Not Source) Max Payne wasnt too bad
2) Intel Family Chipset with 64MB - Managed same as above and also managed Morrowind at Low settings
3) ATI X600 Pro 256MB - My first ever dedicated graphics card, did ok with FarCry at high (not very high) Half-Life 2, RCT3, Max Payne 2. FEAR and Cod2 struggled at medium, Fear was almost unplayable. Got rid of the card after just a month due to the "driver stopped responding" issue.
4) Geforce 7600GT 256MB - I loved this card, it was my first real decent graphics card. It improved FEAR and CoD2 although not max settings, Totally maxed FarCry and Half-Life 2. It also allowed me to play Doom, Battlefield 2 and others. It also did really well with Oblivion with medium to high settings although there were still some slow fps in some parts, I remember the black marsh area being one of the worse. But overall the game was very playable. The 7600GT was the most reliable card ive ever owned.
5) Radeon X1950 Pro 512MB - This card was kinda on and off. When I first bought it, I had an old system with an Athlon 64 3400+ single core, which bottlenecked the card, which resulted in me being dissapointed with its overall performance. I changed it back to a 7600GT after I had another "driver stopped responding" error. That PC didnt like ATI cards. However, when I build the PC before my current, the card was reused for a few months before I upgraded. I finally got the performance upgrade I wanted due to puting it in with a faster CPU (Athlon 5600 X2)
6) Geforce 9800GTX - This was great interms of performance, but the card was somewhat bottlenecked by the Athlon X2 5600+ CPU. Also, I had a number of issues with this card and I really should have sent it for RMA due to the occational blue screens and the occational post failures. However It allowed me to play games like Crysis, Fall Out 3, Dead Space, Mass Effect and many others. The card was replaced shortly after I built my new system. I did use it for a little while, but really started to crap out.
7) Geforce GTX 570 1280MB - This is my current card, and my first real "high end" graphics card. I am so far enjoying the performance from this card. I hope to still have this card in years to come.
