I tryed playing my old PS2 the other day and I could not hear anything with my new sound system. I just figured that the ps2 did not work with it and turned it off and the TVs sound back on and still no sound. Has anyone else had a PS2's sound just stop working for everthing, but otherwiseplay games and everthing else justfine?

Sounds like loose cables noob. Also...on one of the ps2's i own the A/V cable is glitchy on one of them. The A/V cable has the little rectangle part that actually plus into your ps2 and then some cable and then a cyclinder and then long cables and then the R/W/Y plugs. If I jiggle the rectangle/cyclinder end it will mess up the qaulity of the picture and the sound.I just have to move the wires around after the cyclinder until it has 100% connectivity again and gives a good picture and sound again. On my other older ps2 i dont have that problem but its cables hardly ever get moved.

Its not the cables people. Its the ps2 I have changed the AV cables out for diffrent ones and have tryed all 3 of my AV connections on my TV as well as a diffrent TV. Now I just needed to decide if I should rebuy a PS2 which sucks or buy a PS3 which sucks at the momment or wait and buy a PS3 when there is a reason to own one but that means those modles of the PS3 will not play as many PS2 games which sucks. Haveing your system screw up blows. At least its not as bad as the 360.

Why don't you try connecting it directly to the surround system using the optical. If you have the optical turned on in the system menu while you use the normal cable there is no sound I think.
