Action: God of War. Absolutely brilliant game. Excellent graphics, combat, story. Kratos is the perfect anti-hero.
RPG: FFX. Best RPG I've ever played. Excellent characters, amazing story, beautiful graphics. Tidus is a bit of a wuss though. (Props to Dman for saying Suikoden. That's another really good RPG series.)
Survival: RE4. Hands down. No contest. Lost many nights of sleep due to that. Scared me senseless sometimes. Perfect balance of skill and challenge.
Honorable Mentions: Kingdom Hearts 1 & 2. Riku is one of my favorite characters of all time. Wonderful stories, great blend of Disney and Square characters, sweet graphics, gripping story. Overall awesome game.
