Great game that introduces a revoultionary way to control your party, I think we will be seeing alot more of that type of control system from now on. Thats not to say that it takes some getting used too, it does seem like a drag at first but when you get the hang of it you realize the potential of this type of control style. As for the story its only the 3rd FF game Ive played but it seems pretty cool and the quality of the cut scenes are amazing. I recently started replaying FFX and now have even better apreciation of the differences between X and XII. I played X first and never cared for it much, didnt even finish it. then i played XII and loved the game, I gave FFx another try and now im like (wait a minute......they could have made XII a litle better storywise..) and as far as the musical scores for XII ...well its just not as great as it is in X....Even with all this I still think its a great game that shouldnt be missed, it provides endless hours of challenging gameplay. Given that they mke a point to not make any two FF are the same, XII is a welcome fresh perspective of whats to come.
Get used to it It'll grow on you.........
I'm a Final Fantasy addict all the way. From III to X-2. But it ends at XII, because it's crap. I love Kingdom Hearts, but not in a Final Fantasy Series. I love Star Wars but not in a Final Fantasy Series. Final Fantasy is about the Screen breaking, mind thinking, a battle system that makes sense, a storyline that makes sense. This game has nothing but graphics and if that thrills people enough to give it a 9.0 then you're not a Final Fantasy Fan, you're just someone who is playing a game.
The savior of the PS2 FF saga from being a complete waste. Grant you I like X-2, but it was just a follow up to the wasteland that is X.2deluxe

I don't agree with you. Final Fantasy 10 was to easy, yes. But it had one of the best storylines in the series, right up there with III and VII.
You like X-2? But think XII is crap. Wow. I like both but XII is much better than X-2.I'm a Final Fantasy addict all the way. From III to X-2. But it ends at XII, because it's crap. Umm, a storyline about some demented cult tacked with a cheesy love story does not constitute as any good. X has the worst storyline along with VIII. But VIII actually has gameplay so that's a better game. Just admit that you are, at this point are way too incapable of accepting change. XII is the sophisticated FF game for people who are sick of the sins comitted by Square since (VIII sans IX and XI). For people who think a good story is mature and characters that are not pathetic stereotypes of horrible imagination. XIII will only follow the style of free flowing combat of XII.Â
FF XII is a good game, even a good RPG but a bad FF.
Let me explain myself... When I play a FF, I expect more than nice graphics, cutscenes and exploration. I want interesting characters, compelling storyline, larger-than-life and challenging adversaries, and great environments... FF XII felt half baked on almost all those things.
Okay, here's my opinion.
FFXII didn't suck @ss, but it wasn't as good as a final fantasy game should be, for the following reasons:
1. The battle system was fine, but they should tweak it some more to make it more diverse. Alol i did was walk around with 3 fighters and sliced everything in my way. The bows and guns don't do as much damage as swords, and i only used magic when the enemy was physically immune.
2. The flow of the story truly sucked ass cause there were huge spans of time with no cutscenes at all. I don't like it when all i do is go around dungeons killing stuff for three hours straight. Here i will compare to FFX where we had cutscenes with character interaction at least every 30 minutes. And boy, the CG's in XII were so few and far between. The longest of which was like one minute. Damn it! That's why some people didn't like the story, Alot of time there just wasn't any. No character interaction, no CG's, nothing!
3. The espers/summons. They were so weak, I summoned them once to see what they do and look like. So, I lose two good players, and all i have is an overgrown jackass who dies after like, two hits from an enemy. What's with that? Espers should be strong if I have to use them, not die after someone pokes them once. After I've summoned them once, i never did it again.
4. The main character. I thought Tidus from FFX was girly but this one is an absolute p*ssy. I wonder when did people stopped liking nice manly characters. Like ones who are more than 18 years old and have a beard or something. I'm not talking some barbarian-macho main character here, I'm just talking about a normal guy with a manly face and a goatee, not some metrosexual fruity bastard. Squall from FFVIII was closest to being a fine manly character. And the last guy i liked visually.
This is all i can think of right now. Those are the main reasons i would give the game a 7/10 at best. I've played every FF so far at least 3 times. This one I won't replay, except if I really have no other games to play.
Last, If someone doesn't like or likes the game it would be nice to give a few reasons why. That's how an answer to this topic should be.
