I haven't had my PS2 very long, but I would like to stock up on games now, before they all disappear, so that I won't miss out on any. Games such as Metal Gear Solid 3, Shadow of the Colossus, and Zelda are my favorites. I have looked at all the reviews, but sometimes it is still hard to tell if a game is good, especially after it has had 6 or 7 years to age (I am looking at games by how well they stand up today). So here I go (and if you think of any games in my categories that I missed, let me know). Oh ya, and if 2 games are equally good, I will generally pick the one that looks better. Thank you for any help, and sorry for the length.

Racing - I only want 1 racing game, so which is the best of these 3?

Gran Turismo 3: Aspec, Gran Turismo 4, or Burnout 3: Takedown

Horror - I would only likeonegame from each of theseseries, unless I need to play the previous game(s) to understand the story (I am big on story).

Fatal Frame or Fatal Frame II. Silent Hill 2, Silent Hill 3, or Silent Hill 4: The Room

Kingdom Hearts- Are these worth playing (I have heard mixed reviews), and if so, should I buy both of them? Is the story of these games any good?

Half Life - I have looked at screenshots, and this game looks rather dated. But I have heard that it is a classic. Is it a game I should experience, and also, does it have a good story?

Katamari - Katamari Damacy, or We Love Katamari (which is better?)

Bully and Indigo Prophecy - Are these games fun to play, and how is the story in each of them (GS says that Indigo Prophecy's feels a little loose; is this true?)

ICO - Is it nearly as good as Shadow of the Colossus (I know it is done by the same people)? Because if it is similar, then I would definitely play through it.

And a last little thing, I am considering FFVII - FFIX for PS one, along with Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story. I liked the GBA FFs, so I would like to play #1-12, excluding XI. Would you recommend these older games to a person who is immersed in the games of today?

For horror, i definetly would go for Fatal Frame 2 and Silent Hill 3.

I also enjoyed Katamary Damacy more than We Love Katamari.

Yes definitely get FFVII - IX at least. If you dont, you will be missing out on some of the greatest rpgs ever. They all have very good stories epecially 8 and 9. 7 is a bit confusing though. They all have romances too. For racing, idk it depends on which type you like more. A realistic long racing game that is pretty darn hard (the gran tourismos) or a fun racing game with no real cars but lots of different modes (crash mode, road rage) such as in Burn out. I like burnout better because GT gets frustrating. If i want a real driving experience Ill just drive a car.

OH and Chrono Cross is very good. Its quite different than average rpgs such as thebattle system has percent of hitting your opponent. It also has beautiful visuals. Ive been wanting to play vagrant story because I heard the weapon leveling is similar to dark clouds (which i also recommend) but I havent been able to find it in stores.

Get Burnout 3, it is sorely underrated compared to the (somewhat) overrated NFS games. Second choice wud be GT

Neither, try Resident Evil. But if you have a budget or something, I hear the Silent Hill games arent bad.

Have never tried KH games, but if your looking for an RPG, try Dark Cloud 2, another sorely unappreciated game.

As for Half-Life, skip it and look for TimeSplitters 2 (try on ebay). Actually, this depends. If your looking for a great story, with the usual FPS stuff included, then go for Half Life. HOWEVER, if your looking for a game thats highly entertaining with friends, but a loose storyline (story mode still has great gameplay), go for TimeSplitters 2. I suggest you do research on these two games. I researched for one whole week until I found out that Timesplitters was the better game in terms of replay value and gameplay. If your serious about what games you buy like me, then you'll watch videos, and tons and tons of reviews. I doubt you can rent these games (most likely Timesplitters) because its an old game.

Thanks for reading,

Thank you for any help, and sorry for the length.

Racing - I only want 1 racing game, so which is the best of these 3?

Gran Turismo 4 is the best choice here. Lots of cars to pick, great gameplay and exelent graphics.

Horror - I would only likeonegame from each of theseseries, unless I need to play the previous game(s) to understand the story (I am big on story).

Silent Hill games are the way to go from this choices, you should try playing all since though not heavily interwined, they docarry a certain connection. But for mere quality in both story and such, RE: Code Veronica and RE 4 are better games

Kingdom Hearts- Are these worth playing (I have heard mixed reviews), and if so, should I buy both of them? Is the story of these games any good?

I say try it first, not really a fan of the game. But it can be fun.

Half Life - I have looked at screenshots, and this game looks rather dated. But I have heard that it is a classic. Is it a game I should experience, and also, does it have a good story?

It is dated and a waste of money too. For FPS go for either Timesplitters Future Perfect or Killzone. Timesplitters is an arcade game ala Goldeneye 64 while Killzone is more of a realistic shooter setted in the future.

Katamari - Katamari Damacy, or We Love Katamari (which is better?)

Havent tried but hear a lot of mixed reactions from either love or hate

Bully and Indigo Prophecy - Are these games fun to play, and how is the story in each of them (GS says that Indigo Prophecy's feels a little loose; is this true?)

Indigo Prophecy is a great game with a great story. Bully is a GTA in a School.

ICO - Is it nearly as good as Shadow of the Colossus (I know it is done by the same people)? Because if it is similar, then I would definitely play through it.

Its a nice game, but different from SoTC. Though the stories are connected.

And a last little thing, I am considering FFVII - FFIX for PS one, along with Chrono Cross and Vagrant Story. I liked the GBA FFs, so I would like to play #1-12, excluding XI. Would you recommend these older games to a person who is immersed in the games of today?

Deffinitively get the FF, Vagrant Story is also great. Crono games are sweet too. You should also try to find other RPGs, as Valkyrie Profile, Suikoden I and II, and if you want Castlevania SoN

I have Timesplitters 2 (for GC), and I own Resident Evil REmake and RE4. I prefer RE4 over the older Resident Evils, so I am looking for something a little different.

Its true video games are obviously dissappaearing because they simply arent made anymore. I had to get three of my games off of ebay....this is the downside for waiting for games to drop prices like mad- by the time they drop, their all gone. Even after all this time, the first thing I'm doing when I get a job is buying myself a copy of power Stone 2 for the dreamcast...my stupid friend scratched up my first power stone 2 to the point that it no longer worked...$70 for Power Stone 2, $70! Anyways, I hope you take into consideration my suggests, and to the OP, how do you like TimeSplitters 2?

I love Timesplitters 2. It is the only shooting game I ever play with my friends; unfortunately they are all nubs and never want to try out the different game modes. And ya, when I said "before they are all gone" (to the guy above), I'm meaning when they become hard to find. It seems lots of the games I want to play from even 2002 and 2003 I have to get off of Ebay, because I can't find them anywhere else.

Don't get Half-Life it's HORRIBLE!! I've got it, hatedand I played it to see if it got better. It doesn't. The multi-player is awful, the singleplayer is never really fun, the controls are crap(the manaul aim sucks and the lock-on isn't a good solution tothe problem) NOTE: This is my opinion, you may like it as a lot of people apparently do.

The Red Faction games are way better.

If you're into flight sim/arcade games you should get Ace Combat: Sqaudron Leader and The Belkan War (flight games with a good story don't come around often)
