Yes, both are fantastic. But they are serious when they call Gran Turismo a driving simulator -- their goal (however well you think they accomplish it) is realism rather than pure gameplay and entertainment, and it shows.
If you are a real car nut and racing enthusiast, it's a must-buy, because there's really nothing else that comes close. But if you aren't, and if you just want a fun, flashy game that offers quick, casual, and forgiving racing, you may be disappointed. That's not to say they're not gorgeous -- they are, especially GT4, which is a wonder to behold especially at 1080i on an HDTV. But the gameplay is a long way from Burnout or even NFS, so be ready to approach it a lot more seriously than you would games of that type. I personally love both kinds of games -- the Burnout series is one of my favorites, but as a sports car nut, I love Gran Turismo for what it does, too.
