hmm weird never happend to me try checking the slot of the mem card sometime dust overtime builds up in there and jam up things really so try cleaning the small area of the place but really sometimes i just move my mem card from left to right slowly then it will work but if all fails get the slot fix in a ps2 repair shop
i think you need to clean slot 1 of dust.......or buy new memory card.......i was have a problem my memory card was erase save games and i buy new memory card and everthing was ok!

My Playtion 2 doesnt give vibration in any control i insert, but i guess thats just because my friend tripped over the control and yanked out the power cord at the back and it took a long while to start and then there was no vibration left *sobs*
Help Please! My memory card will not read in slot one....It will read perfectly in slot 2...but not slot 2.
Any other memory card works in my slot 1!!! Whats going on!!!

That happened to me a couple days ago as well, I just took it out and blew on the card and it worked fine after that. It's probably just some just in the memory card that is causing the problem.
