I may be in the minority here, but I've actually got my original PS2 from launch and have never had any problems with it despite frequent usage over the past six+ years.
It's kinda funny too, because just about everyone I know has had some kind of problem with theirs and a friend of mine had the slimline model and it only lasted about six months before it stopped working completely! She did use it to watch dvds though, so that may explain things a bit.
I used to have the O.G. PS2 since 2002, but I gave it away to my girlfriend's brother. I just bought the PS2 Slim....so it's just born again 1 day old today lmao
I have a fat ps2 and Ive had it for nearly 5yrs. It is one of the original ones that where released in Australia. It still runs great, but I am thinking about selling it and buying a Slim PS2 at some stage. I even have all the boxes and manuals for it still. Â
Well I had a ps2 for a total of about 6-7 years.. my friend had bought him a new one because he tried to put a modchip in it, and he messed up something inside it, and so he bought him a new one and gave that half working one to me, then a few years later I got sick of it, and wanted a fully oporating one, so I bought a new one, and gave that one to my best friend... but my new one, Ive had for 3 years
i've got one from 2 day of the launch, which wore out over time and modifications. and i got another fat one of the last generation (right about when the slims were coming out)
Well, I originally had a fat system about a year after launch, then traded it in on the slim when it came out. I just got the new silver slim in November. I've never had any issues with any of my PS2's.
I bought a fat ps2 from my friend 2 years ago. He had it for 3 years so it's a 5 year old system. Never had a problem with it except it freezes once a while. Other then that she still works perfectly8)
I got it on December 5 2002 so it's a little over 4 years old. Still works fine. But I'm planning on buying a slimeline this year and keep it sealed till the day comes my current PS2 breaks.
