I have started after supper and played through until after light a few times - can't say that I ever actually timed it but I'm sure it was well over half the day. I have a HDTV for gaming in my bedroom with a tv tray nearby to keep tea, water, and snacks at hand. *and some spare games as well8)
I did SH2 in one sitting and followed up with a couple chapters of RE4.
the next time was Valkyrie Profile 2: Silmeria.
I have also sat up all night playing FIFA and Rugby 08.
holy moly. I heard about some kid in Asia that actually died from playing too long at a internet cafe, it was like 15 hours or something.
Err, the longest I've ever played any PS2 games is about 2 hours tops. (Though I did get hooked on my first MMO on my PC, Guild Wars, and logged quite a few 4-5 hour marathons when I first got it)

I played a 24 hour race on Gran turismo 4, without realising you could auto pilot it, I was at a mates, we were drunk for a good 8 hours of it, and i finished 2nd.
I don't think i played my PS2 for about a year after that..
maybe like 2 hours or so on Ratchet and Clank or FFX, but I've played for 8 hours straight on FF:TA(GBA) and 12 hours straight with Paper Mario: TTYD(GC)
~my record was probably Final Fantasy X, when i first bought it, i turned it on at about 10 am and turned it of at 6 am, when my brother came home and told me the time (i thought it was still about midnight...)
as for the total time in a game was FFX, FFXII, and FFVIII, more than 150 hours...
oh yea, for me it's FFX. I started at 7am and ended at 6pm. had like 30 break for lunch, and like 3 pauses for bathroom. i wouldve went for more, but 6pm was supper time, i was starving, and my eyes were red-red. i looked into the mirror and was like "whoa.. i think i should continue this tomorrow.." but yea that game is soooo amazing. clocked almost 100 hours total for only that game. and another 100 hours for FF7 and right now i clocked 60 hours of ff8 but not done yet.
As for tekken 5 and soul calibur 2, there ain't a numerical value that can describe the time i spent on those games.
I played Smackdown vs. Raw 20077 hours from 1pm till 8pm! but i also had breaks like for-Eating.
and in total in one week i finished Story Mode and i probably played a total of 200 hours cause after i finished story mode i played practice and stuff and i was playing it for like 7 hours and i was pretty addictive to it.
Probably Final Fantasy XII would be the longest I've played on the PS2 for 18 hours. My actual longest time for a game I've ever played is Diablo II & Diablo II Expansion was in 1 sitting for 50 hours straight in summer. All that kept me awake was Mountain Dew, Coffee, Bawls, Coke & Doritos.
If we are including PC games then hands down it's Neverwinter Nights. I clocked 48 hours on a multiplayer server, only stopping to pee or get tea when the server would reboot for a few minutes.
Now THAT was insane. Created a character and made it to level 40 in one sittiing.. my eyes hurt just thinking about it.
