Looking for a ps2 rpg - READ BEFORE POSTING

I'm looking for a ps2 rpg, but there are specific things that I can't stand about some rpgs that most of you adore in here, for example:

I hate kingdom hearts.  I hate the concept of it.  Final Fantasy should have NOTHING to do with disney.

I hate futuristic themes.  I don't want to be in space, I don't want to fight in robots.

I already have final fantasy 10 and 12, so there's no need to buy a final fantasy game, and I don't want dirge of cereberus, it's a shooter, and I didn't like ff7 anyways.

 I like medieval games (english combat style, like jousting and sword combat), roman style games (gladiator arena) and greek mythology games (like god of war, but i already have both gow games)

I'd prefer 3d games, not ones that look like they belong on a psx or a snes.

Dragon quest 8 looked like a decent one for example, except that the main character looked way too cheesey and id have a hard time looking at him for however long the game lasted.  That, and the combat system looked way too old and slow and boring =\

DQ8 is really good, actually.  The main character reminds me of nearly every anime hero, though, and your partners are all quite stereotypical.  But it's a great rpg.

Ys: Ark of Naphishtim (or something like that) is also really good and somewhat fits your medieval requirements.

I agree, it's an awesome game and if you like ff then chances are you'll like it, if you haven't played played it though, you don't really have the right to express judgement on it on these forums.

dude get valkrie profile 2 slymeria  its mythological     and its a rpg  pretty kool i really liked it  should check it out and it had a price drop its $30 nowrace_suace

What about Grandia 2 or 3? Valkyrie Profile Silmeria is good, as well as other Tri-Ace games like Radiata Stories would appeal to you maybe. Like was mentioned before Tales of the Abyss is good as well.

Give .hack//G.U. a try. Also you might want to consider:

Legaia 2: Deul Saga
Suikoden III
Suikoden IV
Suikoden V
Spartan: Total Warrior or Rygar: The Legendary Adventure (not RPGs but you mentioned you liked mythology games)
Tales of Legendia
Tales of the Abyss

Your too picky. You need to try different games to expand your tastes. Try Dragon Quest 8. Just because the Hero looks cheesy to you it doesnt affect the game. And the combat is actually fast and its easy to level grind as well. If you dont play it your missing out, im telling you.

I would recommend Valkyrie Profile 2.

What about Shadow Hearts: Covenant - it's not medieval or roman, but it is supposed to be the past (WWI-ish, I think). It has the Final Fantasy turn-based combat system (I'm not a fan, but it works) and a pretty interesting story-line. There are elements of fantasy and the setting has an Arcanum-ish feeling to it (without all the mechanical abilities).

I know play kingdom hearts i thought final fantasy mixed with disney would be stupid but once i tried it i loved it if u dont want to buy it yet rent it and if you like it buy it its that easy
