Hi Everybody,

My friend moved to London and gave me his PS2. 8)

Today, I got two games for it. God of War and Jak 3. I played GOW for a few hours. It's great. Then, I put in the Jak 3 disk to try it out. The opening cinimatic played fine. It asked me to press 'start' and I did. Then it asked if I wanted to create a new game. I chose 'yes'. Then the screen went black. I've reset the console but it repeats this behavior every time.:?

I played a lot of PC games but don't know how to troubleshoot the PS2. Is there a button combination or something I need to press to get out of a bad loop? I don't even know what the most likely trouble is. The 8MB memory card worked fine creating/saving games with GOW.

Any help troubleshooting this? Thanks!

so the ps2 functions well with the Gow game, I would check for deep or excessive scratch marks on the Jak3 game. If that isn't the case then it's probably some other game related problem.

Thanks for the reply but please don't jump to conclusions. I got this game used but it is official.

Thanks for the replies everybody. I guess the scratch marks on the disk are too much for my unit to overcome. I wiped it down last night but no luck.

I had this problem With StarWars:Jedi Starfighter, i tried to Go to a Disk Cleaner but it never worked, my advice would be to take it back to where you got it from and complain, they'll probably either give you your cash back or a Replacement game, too bad for me cos Jedi Starfighter cost £7.99 so i had to settle with a credit check so i couldntget the game fromanother shop (b*stards)
