I just received a copy of MGS2 Substance in the mail today after winning it on ebay. When I inserted the game disc into my PS2, the console acted like I never inserted a disc. The biggest thing I have noticed after comparing this game disc with my others is that the back this particular game disc is brownish and not white like the others. I can also see all of the Playstation insignias on the back of this disc. Can any of you help me find out if this is either a fake, or if there's something else explaining why it won't work?
Another thing that I have discovered that I should mention is that there are two rings of letters instead of one in the center of the back of the game disc. I still don't know what to assume since I can see the Playstation symbols on the back of the disc.
Try going into the sytem settings and run a diagnostic. It will tell you to insert the disc, when it does, put it in, it might help to make it read it.
To do this, power on your PS2 with no disc in the tray. At the main screen, hit the triangle button, this will bring you to the screen with your PSone settings and what not. Put the cursor on Console, hit triangle again and it will bring you to the diagnostic screen. The diagnostic is supposed to change a few settings inside the PS2 to help read some unreadable discs. Hope this helps.
