If it is working there is no point in opening it up.

Dude this has HAPPENED TO ME BEFORE. The vibration has knocked chipped little pieces of the PS2 COntroller. But its nothing major. The reason why your R2 button jammed was because the piece was stuck in the R2 button. Open up the controller (remove screws) and just shake the controller until all the pieces fall out (mine had three). THen you should be ok. Trust me, it has happened to me beofre and its just a minor problem. I would like it if you emailed me back to tell me how it turned out, but do exactly what I told you to do. And then, enjoy your Socom!

The sound is just the rattling of the pieces. The pieces are black plastic pieces if you want to know. They wont ruin the functions of your controller, so dont worry about buying a new one.

Woa whoa whoa. You werent supposed to open the whole thing.. U were just supposed to unlooseenough screws so that u can make an opening for the piece to come out. That may be the reason ur L2 r2 buttons may not be working, but I dont know what to do now. If you give up hope, try opening it to see the L2 r2 buttons to see if there is something wrong with it. Or maybe u didnt screw the screws tight enuff?

I found a very informative video about the matter and it helped me fix the controller!! The two little things that control l1 l2 r1 r2 weren't in properly!

Here's the link

Dang the link not working so just go to youtube and then search PS2 Controller and it should be there.

yeah its kinda tricky to get those buttons back in right they gotta be angled right and slide behind the buttons. but once you know how to fix it you will never really have to buy a new controller. ive opened them up prolly 10 times but those buttons are always a pain.

The problem is very easy to resolve: open the controller and shake it a little. Some plastic pieces shall fall (those parts are broken plastic parts, broken when u drop the controller accidentally). The R2 button is jammed for the same reason. Surely there is one of those plastic pieces stuck on it.
