PS2 Games on LCD Screens and Your Opinion on Video Scalers *NO FLAMING, Please*

I'm not sure if anybody know about this device, but I would definitely like to have your opinion if you do and/or actually own one. Apparently, there are people would know how it feels to play PS2 games on LCD television screens. Most games would look horrid on LCD screen because these games were made to be played on Standard definition TV and not High Definition Screens (e.g. 1080P). And you'll be experiencing choppy/blurred or just plain ugly pictures.

But recently, I've discovered these devices called "Scalers". People selling these devices claims that it can enhance (upscale) any standard definition video inputs (Games/Dvds via RGB, VGA, Component etc) to High Definition Screenings. 480p, 576p ~ all the way up to the full 1080p to any desired output including HDMI. The cost of the device however can range from (US$150 ~ $4000) depending on how many & what kind of input and output you want to use.

Yes, I own a Playstation 3 but...... productions on games for this console is rather slow & I still loved the games I play on the PS2. But now that I'm using only a LCD TV, playing my PS2 can proved to be rather....... degrading. That's why I ask anyone who knows about this device to give their opinion.

You shouldnt have a problem if youre using the smoothing option on your PS3motherboop

You must be talking about the new PS/PS2 video upscaling option that came with PS3's latest firmware. It makes a bit of improvement, but still not enough. Almost feels like the PS2 games being scaled through emulated graphics. Like you play PC games software rendered rather than playing it with the actual "hardware rendered"graphic card. Also it upscale the frame rate like the video scaler device would.

I don't know. Maybe it's because I'm from Australia and I don't get the latest in lcd screens. It would looks great using that PS3 option on a 1080i plasma tv (then again, everything looks good on a plasma screen), I wouldn't recommend using it on PS2 games with CGs/movie clips. Like Final Fantasy X for example. Although the graphics looks refined during gameplay, the CG clips will look stretched close to looking like a video clip from youtube.com being watched at full screen. It's even more noticeable on lcd tv, so you're better off playing PS2 games on it's very own PS2 console. However, that option could work splendidly on 2D games. I played the fighting game "Arcana Heart" with that option, and h-o-l-y S%$# did it look good scaled to HD.

But anyway, you guys still haven't told me about what you think of the video scaling device.
