at least till 2008 ...... but c´mon, this year a lot of awesome ps2 games have been released.

The ps2 has about 70 must play titles and about 160 or so titles that are solidly made and you may enjoy playing them though non "essential"

The ps1 has about 30 must play titles and about 110 decent titles.

If youve gone thru all of that maybe it is time to move on, if replaying games you like isnt something you find worth while.

i dont see any good games coming out for the ps2 anymore.the last hit game i played was GoW 2.no game after this was so popular.i even saw the release dates of games coming out for the ps2 this year and in 2008 (from ign.com) and i didnt see any game worth it.but ps3 is too expensive...its over...War-Tex

WTF? Maybe Wii is less expensive than PS3 but Wii doesn't really have any hc-games. Also PS3 is actually pretty cheap, when compared to xbox. Not to mention the quality first and third party PS3 game, which render all competition obsolete.

NO way, for me (and for most PS2 users) I have about 30 games (I don't rent), and I intend to get at least more 30... This will cover my "must play games" for PS2!

The PS2 is the sole survivor of the previous console war (GC,XBOX,PS2), and the reason why itit did,it's simple, the vast array of games, the number of good games, and the price those games have RIGHT NOW...it's a no-brainer!! if you don't have a ps2, you're probably thinking of getting one...just to enjoy that increidible library of games!

I waited 4 years topick a PS2 and the wait was totally worth it. Now i canchoose the games from "Greatest Hits" list, I can see the reviews and pick exactly which game i feel fits to what i wanna play and the price is totall cheap....what else couldanyone possibly want?? and am planning on doing the exact same thing with the PS3. am going to wait a solid 4 years and then i'll get one.

You might miss out on the BUZZ, but you will get to enjoy a whole lot more for the FUZZ!

I'm not really into console wars, but I own a ps2 and I think its simply gonna be my last console.
There's just too much good games coming out lately.
and on top of that, I'm still playing my old ps1 games, so I cant really get bored. (Chrono Cross, Final Fantasy's, Persona2, Tekken 3 etc.)
and to give you an exemple: remember Final Fantasy VII? how much were sold? how long did it stay in every single game stores?
That could be what will happen with the PS2
Oh and as for PS3, I know there isn't much choice for now, but some goods are coming thats for sure!

Xbox360 = true American console with sports, cars, and guns(and good online services I have to admit)

Wii = fun for everyone console, top notch gameplay

PS3 = we just don't know yet with the poor choices we have, but I guess (with the goods coming) its gonna end up becoming the same kind of console as the;
PS2 = good racing games, good action games, but its the king of Japanese rpgs/adventure/2d fighting games, and I dont remember the other consoles having Strategy RPGs... did I just miss them? so if you like SRPG you dont have much choices but to go for PS2

so we all have our reason to prefer one over the others, I can understand if you don't give a chocolate about JRPGs, SRPGs, 2d fighting games or innovative adventure games (Okami, shadow of the Colossus), you may get a lil' bored buy the PS2 and its upcoming releases...
