I had a PS1, but I ?never got a PS2.
Since the Ps2 are very cheap right now(and so are the games) I thought that maybe It could be a good time to buy one.
What do you guys think?
Thanks

Why don't you wait a bit longer for the NEW slim PS2 that are suppose to be smaller and even cheaper than the current slims!htmn213
Well mid 2008...that's like in the summer.
Me not waiting 5 months to save 30 bucks.
Wooha. The guy asked if he should get a PS2. Not a PS3.
The PS2 is worth every penny. Getting Rock Band with all the accessories is MORE expensive than the PS2...
i got mine just 2 weeks ago, and trust me, it's been an terrific experience. with a library full of AAA games ( all of them pretty cheap now ), you can easily get 500 to 1000 hours of quality game time out of it -- probably more. the deal is THAT good. :D
dude, i love my PS2. but it is comin up to 7 years old. it is gettin old. it does not seem like many people know, but u can still play ps2 games on the ps3. IDK if u have enough money 4 a ps3, but if u buy 1, then u can buy ps2 and 3 games 4 it.
(the ps3 does have some good games on it, like GH 3, rock band, call of duty 4 (i think) and maybe 10 more...i just cant think of them right now)

I'm aware that the ps3 can play ps2 games.
But currently the only model left in store that can play ps2 games is the 80gb one.(and the BC isn't 100% its about 85%)
Which is about 100$ more expensive than the 40gb gig one.
And 100$ is what would cost me a ps2.. so..
Ps2 + 40bg = same price as 80gb ps3 but with full complete backward compatibility.
if i'm not mistaken, Sony has taken the Emotion Engine out of all the current versions of PS3, and backward compatibility ( now only found in the 80GB version ) is relied on software emulation, the quality of which is still very much open to skepticism.
as for the ps3 library.....it's a matter of opinion, but i think it's been pretty lacklustre so far. the fact that last year's PS3 GOTY is a multiplat first person shooter goes to show that how desperately PS3 needs a definitive game of its own staple. with FFXIII, MGS4 and GTA4 still no where to be seen ( and IF they are indeed as good as we are expecting ), getting a PS3 now just isn't a good deal at all.

Dude, dont make this complicated. Look for PS3 elsewhere. Now you'll have a PS3 that can play PS2 titles, and you can also play PS3 games, yay? Why make things complicated. So what if you have to spend 50-100 dollars more. You're talking about PS3 here with Blu-Ray. I'm scratching my head here, and your reason absolutely makes no sense. When the PS2 will be obsolete soon. You're throwing $100 dollars away.
