This might sound stupid, but its true right? You put a game in, and it is going to get scratches(minor ones) from just running in the ps2, correct?
Plz dont flame me if you think this topic is dumb.

only if there is a problem with your "unit" did you reset the laser height? if the mechanism is too high up I can see why a problem might exist.
Otherwise keep your disks in their cases when you arent using them, dont use them for frisbees and beer coasters and nipple decorations and they should be ok and scratch free.
shi....crap. I reset nothing, and i take exelent care of my games, I always keep it in cases, and never leave prints on it. Crap....
Anyone else?
It pretty impossible to keep a disk from getting scratched if you play it. Just putting it in the PS2 or its case can scratch it.pog_ma_thoin
But thous are just minor scratches, that dont effect the ps2 game much? Right?

You put a game in, and it is going to get scratches(minor ones) from just running in the ps2, correct?Blade_of_AthensAll cd's r bound to get scratches sooner or later. If u see that the scratches r in a circular motion around the cd, then it's your PS2. But if looks like minor 1's around certain parts of the cd, then it's nothing u should worry about.
Blade of Athens did you scratch somebody elses game disk up ?? lol thats what it sounds like. Mechanically there are only a few situations where you could scratch a disk with the ps2. Once you place the disk into the tray do you wiggle it around to make sure its set? That could cause scratching. Also I dont know if the spindle that makes the disk spin waits until the disk stops spinning before it drops the isk back into the tray when it shuts off but tha could cause scratching.
I've never gotten scratchs from just using disks. If anything i got very very minor ones from the plastic sleeves of the cd binder i keep them in. However I let my friend borrow a Monster Rancher game and he spent lot of time putting it into his ps2 and taking it back out so he could go through his entire library of cd's to see what monsters he had and when i got the disk back it had scratches and was crusty as hell and i dont know what the hell he did to it.
For a few bucks your local video store would sand the disk down with a disk doctor. It removes scratches by sanding down the layer of plastic. If you do it to the same disk enough though it will ruin the disk. So if you scratched somebody elses disk just give em 3$ and tell em where to go and say your sorry hehe. And then dont expect them to lend you any more games hehehe.
I would also check the disk tray. There is a ridge on it and i would run my finger around the ridge to try and feel any sharp edges.
No, the disc is only going to get scratched if you do something to it, on purpose or accident, or if you have a problem with your machine. I have five year old games that I have played heavily that look like they were just bought brand new.Velric
We're talking minor scratches here. You'd have to be some god to have a heavily played game for 5 years that has no minor scratches.
