Well the game has great graphics, in a beautiful artistic way. The gameplay is real fun too, just go and read up on it instead of having others tell you what to do.
It is one of the great games of last gen. I'm not saying the gameplay is earth-shattering or anything like that, but the game is fun. It has a good plot with great gameplay and beautiful artistic design. The brush technique element of the game is very unique and brlliantly executed. More than anything else, it is a real shame this game didn't sell better.
I use to love Zelda and after playing Okami it turned me off to Zelda, I have it for PS2 and I'm getting it for the wii when it comes out. One of my most favorite games ever.
Buy it. It's one of those games that you'll proppley play before you get rid of your PS2 or sales in shops will not sell many PS2 game at the end of 2008.
What you've heard are true though the game does have some problems. Issun sucks ass and is a pervert. It's too easy. And the gibberish you hear as "voices" get annoying after a minute.

All that is right except Issun. He is the funniest character in the game, he was made like that.
I have to admit I had been eyeing Okami ever since the month prior to its release and I thought it looked like one of those games that would be more for cult type gamers. The first few hours or so of gameplay are kind of boring and yeah the computed japanese voice jibberish is really really annoying at time...but thats why God invented mute buttons on the tv control. I really didn't like the game until I picked it back up and then I couldn't stop playing I just now finally beat it 100% and I'm already starting in on the new game+ even though it offers nothing new really. I'd say its still worth 40 bucks if you have to pay that. Trust me if you don't get it now you'll regret it later.

Wait for a price drop? I'd pay 5x times retail for this game. It's my favorite PS2 game, and one of my overall favorites. Brilliant game. If you even have a chance to find it and are remotely interested in it, get it.
I just finished it about a couple weeks ago and liked it a lot. It's a very easy game but never so easy that you feel cheated. Wonderful artwork as others have said. The quest is long, and there's lots of stuff to collect and a fun fishing minigame to boot, so there is lots of gameplay. There's a sidekick who's very very annoying imo but other than that, I didn't find any problems with the game.
