Yup so im playing Tenchu Wrath of Heaven now and i wanted to know how many Tenchu fans are out there. I think this is one of the most underrated series ever, and one of teh best ninja/stealth series. I plan on buying Fatal Shadows and the PSP Tenchu one day. But anyone still into Tenchu?? What do you guys want in future games??

Just don't be some dumb Rikimaru fanboy or you'll think Kurenai (the superior and Japanese name of Fatal Shadows) will be the worst version you've ever played.

Tenchu Shinobi Taizen for the PSP is great. Sure it has the horrible draw distance like the original but being able to make your own stages sure is orgasmic.

Tenchu is an nice throwback to old school game play very fun it's sad people compare it to Ninja Gaiden and say it's bad because it doesn't have the graphics or gameplay of that game.

SSJBen

if we edit this;

tenchu's makers made Shinobido Imashime for playstation which has the exact gameplay of tenchu but with more things to do. and its better.

you can get tenchu fatal shadows too, if you want to play more tenchu characters ( ayame and new character rin ). though it has some irritating points, its nice game.

also i dont think ( i'm stating my opinion here, so i'm not sure ) there will be a Tenchu game on playstation anymore since activision sold Tenchu name and now we see Tenchu Z on Xbox360, published by m$.

Yep, Wrath of HEaven is awesome, Just like it's predeccerors. But after got bought by From Software, the series has been going downwards. So to me Wrath of Heaven was the last Tenchu game.

The Tenchu series is awesome. I own every tenchu game to date. I have the new one for the xbox360 (Tenchu: Z) pre-order paid in full. I'm currently waiting for a release date on tenchu: time of the assassians for psp.

I'm so glad somebody made a thread like this! Tenchu games are so good! To be honest, the only problem I had with Fatal Shadows was how the title of the stealth kill would pop up everytime. I didn't know that the PSP had a Tenchu game. I'm going to have to investigate.

The PSP Tenchu is called Tenchu: Time of The Assasins but it hasnt been released yet...supossedly it sucks cuz the draw distance is horrible. You can only see like 4 meters in front of you and then everything else is pitch black. Look at the screen shots.

Sure I've played Tenchu: Wrath of heaven. Perhaps new ninja games on the PS3 will help redefine the genre.

I've seen the Tenchu Z for X360, and i was wondering how is it.

First i took a look on their site and the game seems to be perfect.

Problem is i don't have a X360 yet so i took a look on ps2 tenchu games.

Tenchu: Wrath of heaven and fatal shadows where fine, so i go on a Gameshop and Bought them both, and now i am a Tenchu fan. :D

Ugh, I hate to go by the American names as they suck over the original names. Tenchu Senran for the 360 is excellent. There is no Rikimaru or Ayame, the point of the game is to create your own identity by making your own ninja. Your part of a clan and take on missions for your clan. It has 4 player co-op online play and is really cool. You make your own stealth kills, throw dead bodies, good stuff. It still feels the same great Tenchu game but with smarter AI, crisp graphics, and better controls.

I think Tenchu Senran is the ninja game we've been waiting for. I mean, customizable ninjas, your own clan, and online co-op!! If the game is a success then this will really make the Tenchu series bigger than it is. Too bad i dont plan on getting 360...this'll be another great game i miss out on

I enjoyed the first two Tenchu games for the original PSOne, but, when they switched developers for the PS2 games, I immediately lost interest. From what I hear, though, Wrath of Heaven is decent, but Fatal Shadows is atrocious. I saw the low ratings for the other post-PSOne games and decided to switch over to Hitman 2: Silent Assassin.

I think the first tenchu was the best out of them all.. if you put in the cheat codes or just get grand master on every level, you get some great accessories.. my favorite was the flying leaves that let you kind of fly.  its was how I beat the boss.. oh yeah.. I love Onikage.. he is my favorite bad guy.. even his theme music is charismatic.. to the guy who said the devs for tenchu has a better game.. do they have better music?? or atleast great music.. not talking about rock tracks to make it seem great to americans like "dynasty warriors".. the music in tenchu 3 was crap.

yes its released in us, check gamespot http://www.gamespot.com/ps2/action/tenchukurenai/index.html

even it had 6.4, it still added nice things and its nice. i started the game in hard difficulty and got Grand Master / Assassin (for rin) in all levels, while i was trying to get those, it held me longer and i enjoyed more.

even narrator thing annoyed me, it was nice tenchu game.

I've played the original ps1 games back in the day to death, i owned both version of the originals (NA/JP versions of Tenchu: Stealth Assassin.), but i lost interest when the series moved to the ps2. I got Shinobi Taizen (Time of the Assassins) on PSP. It's a pretty good game, the missions in game remind me of the map editor in the original Japanese version, which kind of sucks because the levels feel bland, but it's still an okay game.

I bought my copy in stores for NT 750, that's about 20 US dollers. Here's a link to the Japanese version of the game, you can purchase it there.

Tenchu 2 was the best Tenchu game on the playstation.   The graphics suck and you dont have as many stealth kill moves but it had a map creator which made the game a rare jewel.   Then the license started getting passed around like a hot potato and the 2 sequels since Tenchu 2 ripped out the map editor.   They did add more weapons and stealth kill moves but without the map editor it just wasnt worth owning.

If its true the new psp version has the map editor back in it that would rock especially if you got all the new weapons/ characters/ and stealth kill moves.

I dont really care about future Tenchu's as I dont have any next gen systems but I hope it isnt X-box exclusive, that would suck.  That would be like the last evil thing anyone could ever do to the series.

What I always wanted to see in the game was just a bigger badder map editor(screw the story).  I also wanted to see some specific SK moves.  One in which you are above your enemies like on a ledge or roof or tree and you use your grapping hook like a noose.  The other SK moves are being able to use ninja star or arrows to stealth kill people.   In the movies you never see ninja's have to throw 5+ ninja stars at somebody to kill them.  Its always one to the throat or forehead and poof they are dead.

My favorite SK move is to dash jump towards an enemy and SK his butt from the air.

Was a big tenchu fan, have all the games on ps, havent bought fatal shadows yet. Problem with tenchu is th econtrols are very average, the fighting scenarios suck if you get in one and yes, (see above) without a map editor in the new tenchu's on ps2 it hasnt been as good. Your just getting too old and clumsy Ayame, put down the sword and have a nice cup of tea.

I agree with _AbBaNdOn there should be kills that you throw a shuriken and its instant-death. Also i have thought about this and arent the characters kinda slow to be ninjas?? I really hope Tenchu doesnt go 360 exclusive........

That exists in Tenchu Kurenai as a new move ability you can obtain. I believe it originitated from Tenchu: Kaiki No Shou (Return from Darkness on the XBOX).

I dont know about you guys but Tenchu 2 was the best prequel I've ever experienced.. I'm talking about game or movie. I'm a MGS fan big time.. but Tenchu 2 was an even greater prequel than Snake Eater. Story wise.  I really liked Tetsumaru.  He was the best to play with.. **SPOILER ALERT***its kinda like an anakin sky walker complex there.. where he was once good and turns to the darkside and kills his master .. damn I need to put a spoiler alert on there.  ***SPOILER ALERT**

I liked Tenchu 2 back then, not anymore. The game has aged poorly (hello robotic controls). I guess the blame should go to the old PS hardaware but the game is incredibly glitchy, far worse than the original IMO. The slowdown is horrendous. Enemies are spread out way too far in between which made the enemy drag useless. The weapon sheating made things far more complicated than needed. There was almost no music during the main story stages (because the levels are so big that it needs to constantly read the disc for data). I love the whole deal with Lady Kagami and her crazed dream, poor Tatsumaru was brainwashed.

I liked both Tenchu 2 and Wrath of Heaven. But I never tried Fatal Shadows, mainly due to the low scores it recieved. And I did think the series was feeling dated. But I'm glad the upcoming games seem to have improved, and it's great to hear they brought back the level editor for the PSP version.
