Resident Evil 4 is probalby the one of the best, if not the best,  zombie horror game to date. If you don't understand why people don't like it you must be playing the game all wrong. You can't just go around and run and gun all the enemies you see. You have to land nice clean shots. Whenever the enemy is down you can slash them with your knife. It saves alot of ammo. And also when you stun them or get them staggering go close to them and do a close attack. Headshots are usually the best and deals the most damage. This game is survival horror and you're thrown into a mysterious town with limited ammo. Your not exactly strapped for the job. You have to find what you can and survive. Trust me you will like the game once you go through it once. Enemies also drop ammo and herbs. You saying you don't know why people like Resident Evil so much is the same as asking why people like Metal GEar Solid or Halo so much. But anyway enjoy it if you can man. It's a great game.
i think its an amazing shooter. very intense and long lasting. many different weapons that are all upgradable. fun and differing boss fights. also, i like the quick button reactions you have to make on the cutscenes.
RE: 4 was probably one of the best that I played. I was happy how they did it and that's the point of the bullets don't last long. If you had so much ammo, you would just sit there and shoot all day. I think that would be fun once you finished the game. I played this game 3-5 because it was that good.
It re-invented the series to a degree and made it much more accessible to casual gamers. But the one bad thing about it is they changed it from the original direction of a game to a totally new one...a lot of people didnt even consider it I real RE I guess.
It might've been a little different from prevous resi titles, but personally I loved resi 4. Even after completing it theres so much fun left in the game-weither its mercenaries, assignment ada, seperate ways or even playing the game over and over again. Although I don't play my ps2 much..... One of the first, if not the first, game I would play on it again would be resident evil 4. Resi 5 has high standards to live up to!
I liked it because it wasn't like the other RE games which I thought were pretty boring. It had nice graphics, solid action, diverse gameplay and a good length. However, it wasn't the least bit scary, the story wasn't very plausible and the button placement was awkward.

You thought the other resi titles where boring????? :? And of what awkward button placement are you talking about?????? But you were right in saying it wasn't scary, the only thing even remotely scary were the regenerators and their creepy breathing....
Yeah the masses said i love RE4 then there was a small group who was all like. "hey this ain't RE gameplay you look over the shoulder and there are changes" now i think a lot of people said that because they couldn't deal with the change of the classic series. But all the changes were for the better (except maybe adding Ashly a dumb girl who you have to escort around every where)

I had the same problem with RE2 for the PS1, but I got around the bullets thing and then really got into the game. That's what they want you to do, there is not score being recorded. It's one of those games that always has an out, even without weapons.

Yeah, i'll agree with you. I couldn't find a soul in RE4. In the first 2 resident evils, you had a feeling for where you are at, and what you had to do. This game is more of a shooter. There was 1 part in the game where if you didn't have either alot of bullets or a rifle, its basically impossible to do during act 3. The button presses in the cutscenes were always either L and R or A and B so it was more of a annoyance than anything. Do i think its overrated- HELL YES! Is it a good game to play every now and then- yep. The games more like a 7.8 to me.

I think the bullets don't last is because you suck at the game, I've gone through the whole game selling over 60% of the ammoms. Ths is one of the best games out in '05, I think that you are just frustrated because you are not good at it, you can't enjoy games if you can't play it!

The puzzles were too much about running around and picking up items. For instance, placing the running trigger on the O-button makes turning the camera while running almost impossible (should have been on L2 or R2).

Dude I don't believe you dislike RE:4. You're just frustrated because you run out of bullets and die quickly...true? Well here's a solution. Get a Cheat disk. Xploder, Action Replay...etc. Have unlimited health and ammos and trust me you'll enjoy the game!!!
RE:4 is the best Action Adventure/Survival Horror for the PS2. It has great production value, graphics, sound, boss fights, innovative controls, great concept/ideas and above all FUN!!!
Because it never gets old whenever you shoot a cult villager in the face or on the knee and then hearing them curse in Spanish. After RE5, I hope RE6 has Claire as the lead character once again. :D

If I have one complaint about ammunition, it's that you get way too much of a surplus.

Correct! But I don't exactly mind the surplus. And I love the knife (hint: knife+krauser =really easy)
It was a mess (I have played the PS2 and GC verison). They moved the camera behind Leon and people start thinking its the best one, you could buy weapons and upgrades from a guy is just a bad idea. Also the lack of puzzles was a bad move, it made the game easy and boring. The story shocking (in a bad way), I have heard better stories by average joes.
RE1, 2 and 3 are the best and RE4 should be put in the bin
Keep in mind that RE4 is not designed to be a pure shooter where you fire away and blow the crap outta stuff (if you want that, go play BLACK). It was designed as what everyone here mentioned as a action/survival horror game. I personally love this game. It is one of my favorite games of all time. The reason why: the amount of detail in the game and what you can do. It is awesome when you shoot someone in the leg and put them on their knees; and then being able to either shoot them and knock them down, run up to them and kick, or knife them in the face. The game also allows you to shoot weapons out of the hands of enemies, and even shoot thrown projectiles out of the air before they hit you. Also, the amount of detail in the environments were amazing. It attributed to the RE's creepy atmosphere, while still giving the player a variety of strategies for clearing an area. How many games lets you barracade a doorway with a dresser, and you can then shoot a hole through the doorway and start picking guys off?
Once you play RE4 through, you're given the chance to buy an unlimited ammo machine gun and rocket launcher (when you restart)...buy those and you no longer need to worry about ammo...I've played it through a few times just using the typewriter machine gun....now that makes for a fun shooter.

It sounds like you're just rubbish at it and there's nothing wrong with the game.
There is nothing wrong with RE4... every aspects of the game are very well designed and executed.

i totally agree, every aspect of the game was perfectly designed and executed.
It is a magnificant game. I think Capcom nailed almost every aspect in making a good game. And the PS2 port doesnt look like a port, it doesnt even look like it was originally created for the PS2... it looks like somthing you'd expect from a more powerful console.I love the graphics, soundtrack, general sound (hearing footsteps/ murmors ect), gameplay, story, characters, A.I, the theme, the list goes on.
RE:4 is a brilliant game which just kept on giving, im still playing it EVERY DAY! Play this game, finish it and enjoy it.
2deluxe, shut up plz. I am tired of ur negativity. Also i thought re4 had a horrific camera controll, especialy when u get people charging at u in masses. And the graphics are pretty bad for the villagers.
I may not be biggest RE fan here. But i love re4 because it was breath of fresh air for this serires and i love it. And outbreak 2 is so much better than the first one
The Resident Evil story has captured several people into interest. Besides, this new twist makes RE more acceptable to people who didn't like it before.
