If you read the article, it explained the fact that most retail stores wont carry a game with an AO rating, which is going to drastically cute the games profits

Well, I think that when it comes to content, it's a lot more then "a year's difference." AO I'd say is similar to movies rated NC-17, which you don't often see in theatres. Video Games are not currently as big an industry as movies, though, so it cannot afford a bad rep. For all those NC-17 equivalent games that get major PR support, more and more people look down on the industry, which is something no company wants to do.

maybe, or maybe people just love to ruin something called "violence video game".

If it is too violent then don't buy and play the game, people.

It is just a game. Some peopel say it leads to violent behavior but the person playing is the one controlling the character. So unless you can somehow not see the difference between real life and a video game then you shouldnt be playong it in the first place. So there should be no problem with it. I mean i played the first oneyeah it was a gore fest of blood but i am desensitsed to violence and im only 15 so i didnt really see the problem its not like its real. So if you dont like it dont play it and let people who want to play it play it and leave them alone. And one more thing i cant wait for the second one if it is changed like GTA SA.

Maybe because stores don't carry them and Sony and Nintendo don't allow them.

they're making a big deal over it because origionally game machines were designed for children, so thats why when games like gta first came out people were in shock. some people cant accept or havnt realised that games arent just for kids any more.

The only "big deal" about it is that stores don't carry AO games, so the game you want is harder to buy.

Your arent looking at the big picture here. Its not just about the game being issued an AO rating, its just the governments way of coming closer to censorship where they really have no right to be. Thats what I think the whole fuss is about. Our freedom of speech and press. And it fuels the fire even more because many stores and venues wont sell AO rated games so why do theatres across our nation release such flicks as SAW or any ROB ZOMBIE horror flick. Think outside the box my friend.

No big deal for me..it's just that the government or maybe the censorchip board just wanna show that they have the power to ban or judge something..parents are worrying that their children might get influenced..pffff,games nowadays are made for mature gamers...tell me how many games out there that is fun but with no mature content?well as far as I can recall there is none!RE,Onimusha,GOW.......grown ups just tend to make big deal over ratings, not us!!

when I got my ps2 (I still have the package) it came with some papers one of them was yellow and it explained all ratings and here is what it said about AO.

AO: Have content that should only be played by persons 18 years and older. Titles in this catagory may include prolonged scenes of intense violence and/or graphic sexual content and nudity. AO games are rare playstation does not publish AO games.

so I gusse AO are only on PC.

because america and other countries are scard of violence, sex, and harsh language and we think censoring it will help us..when in fact america is o damn violent and placed which are much more leniant with mature products are actually more peaceful and have less violent crimes.....i hate censorship, its up to parents to decide what there kids are exposed to not corporate america

from what ive seen, what does a ESRB rating even mean period? ive personally played kids in gears of war that couldnt have been older than 10. im sure alot of you have. my question is, how did they get their grubby mits on it? its because their parents let them. my point is that if these kids parents will let them play M rated games, then i dont think theyre too concerned about ratings. like someone said earlier, there is only one year difference between M and AO. let the conservative parents decide what there kids play and slap manhunt 2 with a Mature rating already so i can play it.lets face it , thats what this topic is revolved around in some way..also, you gotta wonder who is rating these games at the ESRB anyway. i always picture some Bill O Reilly wannabe that doesnt understand thats ITS JUST A VIDEOGAME. cmon, could manhunt 2 have been that much more gruesome than the first? and how did God Of War pull an M with boobs flying everywhere? these idiots rating games are just using what they call "common sense" to determine what flies and what doesnt. its ridiculous that they make such a big deal.
