Xenosaga has the best story line ever created. I HAVE beat FF7 and 6 so I have seen good story lines before. But seriously, if you love stories in games and dont mind waiting for scenes to unfold PICK UP ALL 3 EPISODES NOWWW!!!!!!

I think its the most under rated RPG collection of all time

Xeno fans lemme see your hands in the air8)

I'm not so sure about Xenosagas. I played Xenosaga 1 and 2 both halfways and stopped. Well, the stories are very good, no doubt about it. But the way that the stories are presented are kinda boring. Also I don't find the gameplay appealing in a specialway. My favorite rpg game is still Xenogears, where I think squaresoft has done a much better job.

I agree.. I finished the trilogy and felt satisfied with the events and their outcomes, but it was just so boring.

If story segments were slightly shorter and there was more gameplay in between each scene, it would have been better, but it's still an awesome trilogy, I agree.

Though, there were quite a few other storylines I enjoyed more.

I dont think it was boring at all. Much emotion in that game man. Plus surprises at every turn too. Bro why would you play half of the first and then half of the second??? Thats a ridiculous notion lol. The second makes absolutely no sense.

Its too bad you played both games at their worst. Xenosaga I is boring in the beginning and the battle system seems strange. Same with Xenosaga II in the beginning. I personally hated the Xenosaga II battle system in the beginning but then LOVED it later on. It actually takes skill to use effectively unlike many other RPGs (including FF7) which you could basically beat using the "x" button

I would if it weren't for the combat.  It's a system which I hate.  I do love the idea of what is basically a gigantic anime series in 3 games though.

I thought the storyline was very good and sometimes it felt that I was watching a movie instead of playing a game. The only downside is that the combat wasn't deep enough to keep from getting really stale.

Actually I played Xenosaga 1 because it has certain relation to Xenogears. And yea, I got somehow bored halfway playing it (I remember the gears/robots where really ugly :( compared to Xenogears). A year or two since then, I start playing Xenosaga 2. I think the battle is one of the best part of it. Like you said, it's not just pressing the "x" button throughout the battle. And I think it's always fun meeting all characters again. But again I stopped again somewhere in the middle. Maybe I'll try play those again someday :D And I heard from my friend that Xenosaga 3 was the best. Is that for real?

Pencil Pusher? Get real... Better stories i have seen are ff 10, valkyrie profile 2 and kingdom hearts 1. I personally have liked these better then xenosaga. I personally dont think xeosaga is as much of a game as it is a movie thing, but then again its just an opinion.

FFX's story line was OMG terrible! Kingdom Hearts was pretty good though, haven't played Valkyrie Profile 2... BUT in terms of story Xenosaga is by far the best.

man clearly you have not beat the triologoy.

Other wise there is POSITIVELY no way you can say that Valkarie Profile 2 had better story than Xenosaga.

Why were the humans rebelling against the Gods again? I dunno neither does anyone else. Weak story.

-------------------- SPOILER--------------------

i liked when they revealed Dylan was Brahms the Lord of the Undead though. That was pretty cool.

But damn is it anything compared Xenosaga and its characters? Every single one is amazingly developed and every episode seems to have its own characters which it expands on.

For Ep 1

Shion, KOS MOS, and MOMO

For Ep 2

Rubedo aka Jr. , Albedo, Jin

For Ep 3.

Chaos, Ziggy, Caanan

The story for xenosaga is overlong, overwrought, confusing, frustrating, and ridiculous.  The combination of that with the bland combat system makes it one of my least favorite rpgs on the ps2.

There are some good aspects to it...  mainly in art direction.   There are a lot of long minigames which are ok but only just.

To be honest the story might get better in xenosaga 2 or 3.

I only played the first and it was enough to know for myself that I had no interest in stumbling through another one.

I think there is one point in the first game where a chain of cutscenes lasts almost an hour.

It wasn't bad, but was far from the best. If it's multiple releases you seek, try Persona 2: Innocent Sin and Persona 2: Eternal Punishment. They both combine for a good 300 hours of gameplay and one of the better storylines to date, imo.

I am a fan of the Xenosaga games, only played the first two and will buy the third soon enough...

The plot is convoluted but after doing some research on myths and figured out what the references in the game are for I thought it was brilliant. The battle system is unique and I enjoyed both incarnations equally. There is little need to mention that this game is the spiritual successor to Xenogears, an RPG that is easily up there with the best.

While I thought the cutscenes where fantastic, I can see how some gamers might be turned off but the cutscenes do add a good chunk to the story's plot. Not a bad thing in my opinion though some may argue it was more cutscene than gameplay driven for which I am likely to agree though it still mattered not to me.

Regardless of all the bad rap, the first Xenosaga stands as one of the most memorable games for me all because of one cutscene... Not to mention I have become a fan of philosophy after playing it :)

I only recently picked up this series, so I don't have much to comment on here other than... I purchased the first one and I have really enjoyed the story and character developement in my first 15 hours of the game.  Having done that, I decided I had to purchase the other two games.

The odd thing for me is that I loved Xenogears on the PSone but I never paid any attention to Xenosaga until now.  I think that's mostly due to the sheer amount of games I've had to play over the last few years between PC, PS2, Cube and Xbox.  Way too many games, way too little time.  Better late than never, eh?
