folding@home is nice and the background dl is awesome, but wheres the ability to the change the background wallpaper, custom sountracks on games, and being able to acces your media in "new" way? it a cool update but not as "the big march update" level
After all the defending of Sony alot of PS3 owners do, they go and dig themselves a bigger hole. Honestly, this update that has been hyped since december finally comes out with content that could have been included in a couple of weeks. Three months for what? PSP owners, Research that has nothing to do with gaming, and background downloading? Where's in-game music, in-game xmb, background changing, in-game message checking, etc... Another disappointment from Sony, if you consider me trolling...you are in denial because this is the honest truth. They built up march to be the big update to solve alot of the PS3s issues and we get one thing that should have been out at launch. I can't believe this was hyped for 3 months...

Obviously Sony is saving some juice for future updates. Don't forget that piracy is a huge issue here and firmware updates are a form of retaliation against piracy. If Sony includes literally everything in thier first few updates, then what motivation will people have to update thier ps3 in the future? You still have much to learn my friend....Â

I always understood the big update to be 2.0. Hype is not truth. You can't fault Sony for belief in speculation.Â

Now all we need is content. How are we going to put the "background downloading" and the "5 Items Que" to good use if there is nothing to download? This update is pretty worthless for the time being. Nothing to get excited about.
it'll be good for the europeans, and more content will be out eventually for those that have already downloaded and tried everything that's on PSN atm.

Yeah, 1.60 has lots of stuff in it including bgdl'ing. Just because it's not the stuff some folks were looking for doesn't mean this update is any less nice. Phil said it would be a big update, and it is. Phil said there would be alot of good stuff including bgdl, and there is.  Phil also said upscaling was being worked on, so why anyone would think it would be included is beyond me. I've never heard anything regarding custom soundtracks so why, oh why, would that be expected? People need to learn to discern fact from speculation and official from opinion.
I don't see any difference in this update myself other then Folding@home and for the PSP, which I have, but the key thing is that there were things said from sony concerning this update and by doin' that they fueled the hype even more so then last year and the very key was background downloading, I read this in article interviews with Phil and such and these features were mentioned without a doubt. If sony hadda' laid back and kept their grips tight, things would have been different, but this has become an official dissapointment to PS3 owners.
