it loads the 15 second clips on the XMB MUCHH Faster so if u ahve like 20 videos and you scroll down them with your XMB, they load much faster now, includes games and music, anything on the xmb loads faster
and games off your HDD like SSHD or CaC load faster as well, and people also mentioned getting into warhawk servers on first attempt so yea. and i heard you can have flash backgroudns now (animated)

i could be wrong on this but I thought I remember something about the XMB using less memory in the 1.92 SDK for developers so maybe the XMB uses less memory now, hences the things you mentioned load faster. I don't know if this is true, just guessing here. :)

if that s true hopefully some of the games that had slow down issues should be running better now.
this **** is slow I hope it adds cool stuff bartman999
apparently it looks like just a bug fix since its just a 0.02 increase in number lol, but hopefully there is something cool
Why can't Sonys update be likeM$'s updates? It litteraly gets done in less than 20 seconds...I almost dread these simple firm updates for the ps3 because I know they'll take forever to get done!gamer082009mine took 5 minutes...get a faster connection
You should never download the update via the XMB, it's slow as hell. Just download it from the playstation 3 site and install via a flash stick.
Edit - Well that is, when sony are not slow and update their website with the new firmware promptly
Internet Browser application has been substantially improved.
Controllers auto-power-off now.
Miniclips (thumbnails) in the videos section, and game clips in the games folder all load up synchronized now. Quitting from game into XMB transitions quicker.(Aesthetic/Efficiency Update)
PS1/PS2 Compatibility updated. tyba1982
small update but somewhat good
yeah just got back from beating rfom*great game* and loading times are much better. gonna try out motorstorm now cyas:Dit loads the 15 second clips on the XMB MUCHH Faster so if u ahve like 20 videos and you scroll down them with your XMB, they load much faster now, includes games and music, anything on the xmb loads faster

I mean these are simple little updates, it's no way it should even take2 mins, then on top of thatthey need to install too which takes even more time..it's just a little silly that's all. Mines get's done in about 5mins too but I'm just saying that's pretty long compared to M$'s update time. Didn't mean to disturb the fanboys..didn't know they're on this late

If the internet browser has been updated, does that mean we now have Flash support? If so, that would be sweet.
Also, what are these flash backgrounds that people speak of? Can someone please fill me in?
I hope that whatever issues with the Bluetooth that people have been talking about have also been resolved. Sometimes when I'm playing Warhawk I can't understand a damn thing that people are saying. Other times, it's wonderful. Strange...
Still, it's an update. That's never a bad thing. In about a month or so HOME will be released with another firmware update. XMB in game access should also be available by then. As for custom soundtracks? SONY themselves said it's not high on their list of priorities. Not too high on my list of priorities either. Although it would be nice if I could listen to some music while I Fold...

It's kind of wierd that everyone is download speed is so slow. Mine was done updating in less than a minute. Installation was just as quick. Looking forward to this if we have flash now.
I agree, I don't see why the updates have to be a FULL SIZE update every time! The 360 only updates what it needs to and takes a few seconds most of the time whereas the PS3 downloads the whole 120+meg firmware every time. It's a rather stupid and annoying way of doing things.austin_is_god
The only thing I have to say to that, is we have lots of complaints of peoples systems getting bricked after updates threw microsoft. Plus, if you own a 360, you also have to update everygame as well after a update. So its not the greatest system in the world.
I can't remember hearing about someones PS3 bricking over a update. And usually when I hear about that on PSP, its because someone went wrong during installation.
And one other thing not related to the post I quoted, did the update not have the list of features added before installation? Why add that feature if its not used.

um this is a ps3 forum right lol why we discussing the other console. also they bricked it because they were modded consoles i think sony would do the same to modded ps3's.
anyways why discuss this at all when we should be discussing what exactly changed. im still trying to figure out what flash backgrounds are. all i could find is a program that lets you convert flash files into wallpapers on your pc but it creates an executable for the wallpaper. im wondering if we use an executable file or the actual flash file itself.
it didnt do much, i hate the updates that go like 1.3 0r in this case 1.92 , these dont add much , i heard 2.o will have in game Xmb

I click on "system update" and it tells me my system is up to date...
I check my PS3 system info, and it says 1.90 is installed... wtf.
Did they delay the update for european ps3's or something?

This has to be for Warhawk, The servers were down last night and they are still not back up, man I hope I finally get my stats.Riverwolf007
If I remember correctly from the beta, they do server maintenence on monday nights. Make sure you weren't trying to play during that time.
I have found out what this update does
man its a huge mega update..... heck its so big that it does everything you want it to
heres the link for the changes in the huge update:
http://uk.playstation.com/help-support/ps3/guides/detail/item77969/bengilder
So... Its really just a proof update with everything the other updates had packed into 1... Well i guess its good if you lost your firmware or just got a PS3...

yea more or less. i think it also reduces the ram as well because a few weeks ago devs did say they got a new sdk with lower ram. so i think it lowers the ram so the console is a bit faster (people have been reporting that it has been going quicker)

You mean loading time in games is quicker or something else...?
