1) It can play about 72% of the entire ps2 library, or about 1200 games, and I think pretty much 100% of the ps1 library. You can go the ps3 section of the uk playstation website to check the backwards compatiblity of your ps2 titles.

2) Yes, I believe the games are so far region free, so you sohuld be able to run it fine.

not true. imported ps1, ps2, dvds and blurays just wont work. imported ps3 games work fine. i have american copies of resistance and tony hawk 8 and they work perfectly on my uk ps3 and PAL tv here in wales :D
