I am currently interested in buying a PS3. However, thanks to teh Stupid double SKU crap, i have to make a choice. The only features i really care about on the 60GB model are the Hard drive space and the Chrome Trimming. I dont use Wi-Fi or memory sticks and my TV dosent support 1080p. Should I get the 20gb version or the 60gb if all I really want to do is play games and Movies.

Probably the 20gb.  If hard drive space becomes and issue, you can swap in any standard hard drive in its place.

Buy the 60 GB. The chrome finish makes it look elegant. Also the card readers and Wi-Fi is nice to have.

Hmmm... The only physical difference you will notice is that the hard disk in the consoles.

The 20GB seems to have less cache than the 60gb which creates a performance difference in hard disk loading times.   Not a big deal but its supposedly noticeable.

I would highly suggest getting a high definition TV.  If saving $100 on the 20gb gets you closer to getting an HDTV then I would definitely suggest getting the 20gb.

Agreed with Arginias.  If it is soley for games and movies then the 20GB is the way to go.  The deal breaker for me was the Wi-Fi because we do not pay for internet and could leech it through our apartment.  Big time.  ALSO as stated if disc space becomes an issue you can swap in another harddrive and it is pretty easy.

THOUGH I DID HEAR some issues with custom hard drives when the 1.54 firmware came out, this was just a rumbling though and have not heard much of it since.

Anyways, yeah 20 GB is the way to go but if your single and may move (that wi fi is really handy) you really cannot go wrong paying another hundred bucks and getting wi fi and the extra 40 gb.

I would say go for the 60GB because it has a lot more to it than the 20GB version.

my saying is this, if you can spend 500 for a 20, you should just spend 600 for a 60.  bought a 20 off of ebay, it came with the receipt, exchanged for the 60.

Sony is making the choice easy for you.  Its almost impossible to find a 20 gig now.  So looks like your getting a 60 gig if you want one.

No, it is not impossible to find a 20GB, lol. I just got mine off of Ebay last week, and there are still plenty on there. Got a hell of a deal as well. $485.00 ($517.00 with insured shipping) for the 20GB console, 2 controllers and Untold Legends: Dark Kingdom. All in mint condition and everything works flawlessly.

I spent $80.00 more at newegg.com buying me a Toshiba 120GB SATA 5400rpm hard drive as well. So now I have a 120GB PS3 for still less than what a 60GB alone costs with tax. Not a bad deal at all considering that I do not want or need WIFI or card readers. Not to mention the fact that I like the all black look better than the chrome look anyway.

So, if you are like me, and do not want or need WIFI, card readers, and could care less about the chrome, then why not save yourself some money and just find yourself a good deal on a 20GB on Ebay from a trusted power seller, and just buy a larger hard drive if you want more room?

You should come and live in Ireland. We don't even get the option the 60gb is launched on March 23rd and the 20gb isn't available until later on in the year. Why?.........Apart from the obvious reason "$$ching, ching$$" I have no idea.

ok, time to answer this the right way. both the versions are exactly the same as far as console specs besides the HDD, WIFI and the card readers. they both support 1080P resolution, they both have HDMI, both have 4 USB ports, both support blu-ray, so dont listen to any of the dumb rumors you hear. if you dont need card readers and WIFI, get the 20gb, then add a 120gb HDD from www.newegg.com. if you need, i can give you a direct link to the ones that work with the PS3, its easy to do, and its only $100 for the 120gb drive from that site. in closing, the 20gb happens to be the right one for you

You will be lucky if you find a 20gb. I would say go with the 60gb, your already paying a large amount of money why not pay $100 more for features that cost more than $100?

Yes you are right.  But when I said impossible to find I meant new and in stores.  You can buy a SNES system off ebay but I wouldn't consider that system still in circulation either.

Well, at first I wanted the 20GB, with the same reason just like yours. But then I bought the 60GB, and I found that it's better than the 20GB. You'll never know when you have to use the memory sticks slots and stuff and Wi-Fi too. If you have the money for 60GB, by all means, get it.

i got 60 for the wifi it works great and i can move it around the house and be connected! and 20g wont be enough i think. when you check the gigs you'll really only have 14gigs of the bat and the 60 says 47/55 of the bat. 60 all the way! it will be around for ten years dont forget!
