2.4 is starting to screw my ps3 up 2 days after i install it...

i installed 2.4 the day it came out and had no problems and i have already unlocked the trophys for sshd but now im starting to have a LOT of problems.

my friend is away on holiday now but according to my ps3 he is online playing burnout paradise (which he does not own) and he has the same comment as me which he doesnt. no 1 is even at his house his ps3 shouldnt even be on and he isnt using remote play.

on top of that i can no longer look at any of my friends trophy cards. i click x and the card comes up and its loading then i get an error. cannot be displayed (FFFFFF) yea thats right the error code is a bunch of F's in brackets. i cant evenlook at my own trophy card.

when i got to look at my trophys nothing happens it just opens the trophy folder and nothing is in there. i just tried it there and they did show up but sometimes they dont.

trophys dont show up on my trophy card unless i first compare trophys with a friend which takes a good 20 seconds to load up.

i also turned my ps3 on today using the ps button on the controller and the ps3 made 2 beeps and the display was at 560p or something close to that and um using a hdmi cable (i didnt hold the power button for 10 seconds i used the ps button on the controller)

im playing burnout paradise right now and the whole time i keep getting signed out of psn, i press the ps burron and sign back in but 20 mins later i will be signed back out.

i havnt rang sony yet because i know that this problem is 2.4 related. i have backed up all my game saves to be safe but my warranty is gone so if it does break ill have to pay 250 euro to get it fixed. ill ring sony and they will say to reformat my ps3 hdd ill loose everything i have on it and i know it wont bwork because its the firmware thats the problem.

i hope sony can come up with a fix soon. i was fine for a while because i though that since i safly got past the install i would be fine but now its starting to have an effect on my ps3 which is bad.

haha fair enough i could go to all the effor of making a video to prove my story but i really couldnt care if ye believe me or not i though id just say what has been happening with my ps3 today

Well I'm not saying I don't EXACTLY beliefe you it's just hard to believe with all the "2.4 problems" going around and people trying to make it look bad when it really isn't THAT bad. IF you are really experiencing problems I say just wait for Sony to officially fix the problem, they will probably make a patch for 2.4 (2.41) or they will just fix 2.4 and re-release it.

Everything you listed, except that part when you turned your PS3 on, seem to be problems related with Sony's servers, not with the 2.40 update.

He hasn't lied though..Myself and a few of my friends are having the same problems to. All my friends who are online have the same comment as me, and I get the (FFFFFFFF) error when I try to view a friends profile aswell. What's even worse is that the network is telling me I have friends online when they aren't, and these are the ones's who have the same comment as me. For awhile I could'nt even message anyone, but i can now. To fix it, I tried logging out and signing back in but there was no change. So I changed my comment, signed out, logged back in, only to find my new comment was on everyone else's profile who was online aswell. I've even turned my ps3 off, but still no luck. The games i have play fine, no freezing or anything like that. It's just the network, it's really stuffed at the mo.Dragons-Soul

This story doesn't sound that true, it could be a problem, but the only problem with 2.4 occrus during installation which is what caused peoples PS3s to be messed up. I don't know about your story it doesn't seem to check out...G-Legend

not true, My PS3 no longer plays DVD's correctly and won't turn off correctly, the PS3 attempts to turn off, but the green light just stays flashing, and there been other reports of disc reading problems, overheating etc. that have only become apparent after installing 2.40

There's has been other people affected after the installation of 2.40, i seen several people mention similar problems in threads on the playstation forums, and my friend who live just round the coner from me has a similar problem when displaying trophies, he never mentioned an error code he just said when trying to view his trophies for ssdhd 90% of the time the trophies would not load and he would have to try over and over gain then finally it would sometimes load after 15-30 secs.

I personally have not had this problem but when viewing trophies or using xmb in game everything takes around 5-10 seconds to load after reading about other people that have encountered problems after installation i have decided to just wait for the new update ive plenty other games to play on pc/360 so i can wait, ive finished mgs4 so im not to bothered, better to be safe than sorry.

Well Sony took off the update just so the rest of us can avoid all these problems and hopefully they'll release a patch for the folks who got all these probs with the 2.4. Thats why I always wait atleast a day before installing a new update, just to avoid screwups like these, thouh I admit, i only have to play offline games then, but only for a day.

I own a european 60 GB PS3. The warranty is no longer valid cause I upgraded it to 120 GB. I downloaded 2.4 FW on July 2nd and I have been playing a lot MGO, my friends current status show everything normal, they play GTA4 or CoD4 and when they sign out they are actually signed out, is correct. I have been using internet a lot ,Youtube, e-mail, gamespot, ign... and it worked perfectly! I say all this because I don't believe all this new stories coming from internet. Sony officially announced that the problems were only during the installation, NEVER AFTERWARDS. To be honest I don't know why people are so bored to start tales like this one. Sony will come up with a 2.41 in a week max. and everything will be fixed. I am not saying that the bug does not exist, it does but not in the way people are trying to speculate. I am absolutely conscious that if my ps3 breaks Im gonna have to pay 250 € at least, but I am not worried because, like it or not sneaky 360 fanboys, PS3 is, by ages, the most reliable console in the current market:D

It sounds like you are lagging out of PSN badly. I recommend signing out then signing back in. If this doesn't help, reset your connection.

Make sure your regular connection is stable and you aren't downloading any big files on your own computer or whatnot. You may actually be doing so and not be aware of it. If online seems a little slower for you, and it's not your connection, scan your PC for spyware, adware, trojans and other viruses.

dude! I thought i was the only one. This happened to me in the morning, my HDMI was reset when i started it up. It made a second beep after i started it up. And i got signed out of PSN 3 times while playing MGS4.I didn't worry though, i mean its still working, but the PSN sign off's were bugging me a little.

d_ano has been on the PS3 forums for a while, I don't understand why so many people accuse him of lying.

I had that FFFF error before, and one of my buddies has been playing Battlefield Bad Company for a week straight. I know he has not actually been doing this after I have seen your post (and I doubted it before). I guess it is just some glitch, but I think other people are right when they say that the FFFFF problem is with Sony's servers.

I wouldn't worry, they will just release a patch on 2.4 to clean up stuff.

Whenever people hear something bad about PS3 or an update, they always say the person is lying.

It's legit, just believe it.

d ano i had the same problem xcept a day after 2.40 i tried the commando demo and of course i quit right away cus it was dreadfully horrible and my ps3 got bricked........ phoned sony twice still nothing no more waranty and they are trying to say 2.40 didnt cause it so yeah.... i need some help to wtHECK can i do??????....mgs4 is still stuck in my disc drive and its just terrible... was in serios car accident scaphoid bone in my wrist is fractured n i cant reallly do much can kinda replace thumb with pointer finger lol but it doesnt work 2 well lol but i dont even have ps3 anymore (that works) i ust reallly wana get sopranos and heroes on bluray....... ANYONE WHOS PS3 WAS BRICKED DUE TO 2.40 PLEASE TELL ME WHAT TO DO! :(
