If you can aquire a PS3 with PS2 backwards compatability, then by all means DO IT.
I have a launch 60GB and never play PS2 games on it. BUT, I would not trade it for the world since it is becoming much more rare these days. Especially since it has full HW emulation with the Emotion Engine.
But, if it is not at all an issue for you (BC), go with the cheaper system and then upgrade when you see fit.

I wouldnt trade u my Software BC for ur HW BC.I think it's gonna be pretty hard to find a PS3 with backwards compatibility anymore. If you can't find one, and your only deciding factor seems to be the size of the hard drive, I'd honestly pick the smaller, cheaper one and just buy any laptop hard drive to replace it with.
When they announced they were removing backwards compatibility I rushed to get an original 60GB launch console and then just replaced the hard drive with a 250GB drive.
well im buying this from someone for 200. not sure how many usb ports but all i know is that heavy rain is coming out soon, and i badly want to play demons souls and uncharted 2 lol. and i cant go on xbl anymore so for certain reasons dealing with their rules, but thats besides the point.
so 80 gig ps3 with everything it comes with, not sure if 4 usb ports, is a good deal?

If it is not B/C, then I would honestly lay out the extra $99 and get a brand new slim with a warranty. $200 is great for a PS3, but at the new price point of $299, you really can't beat NEW, especially since it has a 120GB HDD. BUT, if money is the main factor, yes, $200 for a 80GB PS3 with or without B/C is a good deal. Just keep in mind, you have no idea how that used system was treated. Please Log In to post.
