just a quick question for those of you that might know or experienced, have you come across many, if any, games you couldnt play on your ps3 due to not being supported through its backwards compatibility?

ill be picking up a ps3 shortly and i have the option of getting a 60gb version. i only consider getting it because the person im getting it for has a lot of old ps2 games but if the 80gb works just fine with the majority of ps2 games then i can save some money.

The 60gb supports more games than the current 80gb.

But the new 80gb MGS4 Bundle coming out in June has the same support the 60gb had.

I'd say get the 60. get your hands on the 60 while you still have the opportunity to do so. :)

This seems counter intuitive. Where did you get that information? Unless logic has been thrown out the window the 80gb MGS model should be the same as the regular 80gb model in terms of specs.

My say is kind of biased, but I would get an 80, if you like saving alot of stuff to the hardrive. I play some PS2 and ps games on my 80gb and found no problems yet.

I read it off some news, and on here. I don't remember links, but I do remember, that in here, a "battle" was going on because of the 60gb preference, and people saying why Sony discontinued 80gbs. Some people said the new 80gb coming would have the same support as the 60gb model. As I said before, I also read it on another site. But I can't be 100% sure it's true, since, a lot of times people lie :P

^^^IOW, disregard the previous statement hahaha

To the OP, go to the US playstation website where you can check compatible games and run all your games through the search. Chances are, if the game was sold decent it is compatible, the 'problems' i've seen are usually just glitch-esque stuff that is resolved in a patch of the PS3. I'm getting the 80GB bundle pack when it is released as well
