Sorry for my frustration, but my TV "only" does 1080i, so all these 720p games get busted down to 480p

I just DL'd MLB2k7 and it looks like CRAP... I'm guessing it looks a lot better in HD. The game didn't impress me that much, but was I just let down by the non-HD?

I think I'll wait for The Show before I make a purchase either way.

In my opinion it still looks like crap on HD. There is no self shadows, and the gras looks worse than an N64 game. I'm not even joking at all. Take a look on gametrailers at Pro Baseball Spirits 4. Thats the direction Baseball games should be going in.

I wouldn't blame the game for being 720p. I'd blame Sony for not having a scaler in the PS3.

YOU might already have tried this, but most haven't so here we go: TRY THIS: Set your PS3 to output 1080i and 720p - video settings. See what happens. More than likely your 1080i tv will convert the 720p signal to 1080i and it will look great. The PS3 can't scale, but MOST tv's can and people don't know about it. If you already tried and it didn't work - sorry nothing to do. The upgrade to ps3 is supposed to come out

if the game still looks horrible in 720p, does it really matter? the game looks horrible at any resolution. how does upscaling it make it look better?

MLB2k7 probably doesn't support 1080i output. if the game doesn't support a certain resolution, the PS3 can't output that resolution for that game.

The guy is complaining that he's forced to play it in 480p since the PS3 can't scale to 1080i.

The demo for it was put on the PS Store last night. Along with trailers for that duck game, Home and Warhawk.

Awesome. I'm gonna be playing it non-stop over and over again. Though I'm still holding out for The Show.

somebody has already stated that the game looked like crap even in HD. so does it really matter if he is viewing it in HD or not? it doesn't seem to matter if the game looks like crap in both SD and HD.

Game looks horrible all together and yes i have a HDTV...the 360 version is visually much better. Also, i dont think its possible..but maybe the ps3 could be patched so it could scale the different resolution. That is the only problem i have seen with my playstation so far.

I have the demo for PS3 and 360, it definately looks better on 360, the PS3 verison has more jaggies and the peoples faces are all messed up, it's like washed out with PS2 detail. I don't know what the deal is, but on the good hand I like using the 6 axis control to swing.

Just a guess, but I'd bet even a crapping game would look better rendered in 720p than 480p on an HDTV.

I have a Toshiba 57HX81... it's a bit older model, from about 2001. When I select 720p in my PS3 system display settings the games just show a black screen.

I was about to actually make a thread seeing if anyone else thought this demo was crap too. I couldn't believe how bad it was. The graphics look almost like PS2 graphics (exception being clothes and helmets) and even w/ them being so bad there's still horrible framerate issues all over the place, what gives? I'm so sick of sloppy ports.

From what people have said, there is one, but sony rushed the ps3 and forgot to activate it.

That game looks terrible even in HD. I downloaded the demo and was shocked at how bad it is. The crowds (even the highly visible ones while pitching) look like PS1 models.

If you have a *** PSN account you can DL the Baseball Spirits Trailer, it looks great. And it is in 1080.

I understand that PS3 can't output 1080i for a 720p game. My point was set the PS3 to output 720p and the tv will convert it. The tv doesn't care about programming etc it can either scale or not - most can. In this case his tv doesn't do this I have the same model tv but one year later and it is able to do this - sorry
