Check it out here, and here... 80 Gigs PS3 is on it way.
For those who going to buy a PS3, I guess you guys should wait because 80 gigs is on it way.

Stupid move I think.
Whats the point? From the spec sheet, all that is different (between the 60GB and the 80GB) is the HDD size. Why bother when you can just change the HDD anyway with a HDD of your own choosing (so long as it is 2.5" SATA).
If they stick to that conversion rate, it looks like there might be a price drop. But seeing as how the price for a 60GB varies worldwide, I'm not sure there will be a price drop when this new SKU retails (if it does infact come to retail).Â

Yup, no EE Chip and an extra 20gb. I am glad I got my PS3 when I did, I have a ton of PS1 and PS2 games that work perfectly. Â

Not really because it's only going to be about $27 dollars cheaper, that's not that much.
God! I'm confuzzled as of right now... I want to get a PS3 soon...and since I'm hearing an 80Gb Ps3 is coming out for cheaper...just makes me want it more...but what is every one talking about the EE? What is that... What should I do? I have two months to decide...

its said with tax, and doesn't korea have like a 12% tax or something really high like that. The price would be less than $550 USD even with the 6% I have here where I live

Still it wouldn't be a huge price difference.I would like to see a $100 dollar difference, that would be nice.

 Just buy a 60gb now ... Â
The 80gb model looks like it could be replacing the 60gb but only HDD is different ( and no EE+ES / PS2 hardware) also remember this is for PS3's launch in Korea ... Â
hmm it would seem that sony are planning on cutting costs by removing the EE chip from the next batch of PS3, just like they removed the EE chips before realsing it to europe and here in australia.
well since it wont affect us hear in australia (we never got a EE chip in ours in the first place) i guess i am glad i waited a little while before purchasing my PS3, the 80gig should be available down under in bout 6 months and hopefully at the same or lower price :DÂ
I don't understand what the big deal is about them cutting out the EE chip. Can't they just emulate its function so they don't spend as much on production without cutting features?gundamfan80Â
the problem is sony's emulation software sucks a $ $ and they cant play half the games properly, they need to fix it up, i soo hope they do cos i got a nice collection of ps1/2 games i adore.Â
[QUOTE="magikmark84"]thats so stupid! i bought a 20gb PS3 at launch and upgraded my HDD to 80gb, my poitn is anyone can update the HDD so whats the point to come out with a 80 gig PS3, NOT SMART SONY, BAD BAD SONY! LOLxMAVx
Â
yea it was, at launch there was 2 models the 20gb & 60gb
there was a 20gb ps3? o_O

Yes. And, technically, emulation IS better, but...I want to play my older games immediately.
Also, I want dependency to be hardware-based. I never liked the idea of firmware and I'm trying to put off using it for as long as I possibly can.Check it out here, and here... 80 Gigs PS3 is on it way.aka_aj03
In Korea. Kinda like how Japan still has the 20 GB? But NOBODY ELSE does?
I really doubt this is a new SKU. It's more likely that it just became cheaper to throw in an 80GB HDD than a 60GB, that's all. The original Xbox had a similar situation.
For anyone who wants a PS3, just buy one now. Really, 60GB is a lot...and if you want to runlinux too, then you're probably going to want a larger HDD than 80GB anyway.

I don't think it matter to us who lives in europe now does it.Â
Bad move from Sony... They should of do that in the beginning, a 60gb and 80gb of choice for the consumer and not kill off the 20gb then release the 80gb version when they just not too recently launched their product globally.Thomas-Crown
Â
Retailers wasn't buying the 20gigs= noone was buying the 20gigs...it made perfect sense.

Yeah but for something that has 20 more GB of space.
