A Free month of Plus is not doing gamers any favors

I don't know, I think giving everyone 30 days free ofPSNPlus is more of an advertising pitch with their Plus service than anything else. I have afriend that has plus, but after 3 months cancelled it, he lost all the free games included with the service as well as the avatars he downloaded. So in a way, they are giving you Plus with a few free games, but if you want to keep those games, you've got to pay for the service. This may force some gamers to purchase Plus, which seems more like a money grab/advertisementpitch.

I do think its nice they are giving subscribers to Plus already a free month due to lost access.

But I considering many people have had to change credit card accounts and take action to protect themselves agianst fraud because of this, I don't think its enough.

I'd rather have them pay for the year of a credit montioring service I am going to buy since my information got havked rather than this Plus promotion garbage.

I thought you just lost your free games. I downloaded some free themes and games when I had the three month subscription and last time I checked I could still use the theme. Can't use the games.

People here ***** about getting some kind of compensation for the thing, and when you do, you say it's not good enough, (it's also crazy discounts for games, and you don't even lose the games you pay for, and even if you lose free games, they're hardly worth keeping, and besides, you can't finish a game within 30 days?)

Does it suck that credit card information was compromised? Yes, but I don't know what else you want them to give you. It's great stuff you can get for free and at a discount price, and if we can take sony's word for it, none of the credit card info was stolen.

Technically, you're not entitled to anything, be happy with what you're getting.

Yeah i felt the same way when I read that they are giving plus for a month,but its gonna take a month for the playstation store to come back online.It doesn't sound like a great deal cause I would love to download some final fantasy games but I don't want to lose them after the plus has expired.mrsniper83

u guys need to stop crying about this psn being down thing...jeez, they said already the cc info was NOT stolen..and FREE is FREE people, look i love playing my games online (ive been enjoying kz3 until psn went down) but big deal, We lost a FREE service for a couple weeks that it, this has not bothered me not one bit, if it was down for a month+ then i would be disappointed but not angry at all... winner-ps3

If you downloaded a bunch of themes, avatars, and add-ons during this "free" period, would they then be tied to your console or to your PSN account?

Because if it's the latter, then theoretically could you "reget" them on future consoles provided you used the same PSN account?

Considering we dont PAY for the PSN no one should complain!! Unless you are indeed a + user! Sure its been a lil annoyin that we havent been able to play online but theres other things to do out there ppl! I'll be happy with it just to come back online! DOnt really care for their comp deals, coz I didnt lose anything by this downtime!! Nor am I angry about the downtime or Sony!

Ok, since my post I have learned part of my initial post was incorrect.

First, was I was wrong in that you will retain all PLUS themes and avatars downloaded. However, I am still correct that you will lose all Free PLUS exclusive games.

Second, I was unaware that Sony is paying for CC monitoring. As of this morning, I called sony and they told me I would have to pay for the CC monitroing and submit a reciept for consideration.

However, I still stand by I do not think giving 30 days of PLUS for free does gamers affected any justice.

I read an article on Vgchartz that even though Sony will give 30 day free trail the PSN store wont be back online and Sony has yet to announce when the PSN Store will come back online....So even though the plus symbol will look nice next to our PSN names without the PSN Store the 30 free trail will be useless.

How can you complain about something that is being given to you for free? I just don't get it.

The free trial offer starts when the Playstation Store is back online, not immediately when the Playstation Network is back.

I don't really care for PSN PLUS doing me any favors or not and what im going to be able to do with PSN PLUS really. I'll check it out play with it for a bit and after the 30 days are up SEE YEA ! I just want to get back to the good old free online gaming, internet searching, and netflix on my PS3 and ill be happy. Arcade07712

Also, Sony kind of does need to offer online service. It was everyone's understanding when they purchased the PS3 that they were paying for an online console. I'm sure you wouldn't be happy if after selling an optimum number of PS3's, Sony just pulled the plug on PSN and said "gotcha."

It isn't and it was stipulated when you purchased your console that it was online so you can think of your payment for online as contained within that initial investment. Therefore PSN being down does represent loss on the part of its users.

EDIT: Also, it was brought down to protect their customers because they failed to protect their customers otherwise.

...are you serious, psn was breached, its not like sony decided and say hey screw everyone lets shut this **** down, no they have a great reason to shut down psn. what are you getting at? You can go outside for once and not be on your ps3, it won't hurt you and also i bought my ps3 to play videogames, hey guess what i can still do that since i hardly play online games. I bought my ps3 at launch also you don't see me crying about it.
