as an arab-american and a very proud american citizen, I pay all respect for the fighting soldiers. this isn't a place to post something like that though. God Bless the troops.

- as for the people that are telling me how many Iraqis are dying, please stop watching Aljazeera TV and get a real view of what's going on. American soldiers aren't killing anybody, it's the terrorists who are going into crowded markets and blowing themselves up to claim as many casualties as they can. how do you blame the americans for that? Most casualties nowadays are caused by this same reason. Blame those Islamic extremists and Alqaida fighters. thanks

The_Gamer81

First of all, stop bashing Aljazeera TV, it actually shows both sides of this war unlike sky news who simply show american soldier deaths and hardly the many inoccent civilians dying. And yes, the terrorists or whatever may be blowing themselves up in places, but its because the american troops are there, and why are they there? They should be brought home.

Maybe we should all just leave the topic alone until it's locked. The author knew this, but HE WOULD ONLY GET FLAMED (which has happened)..... Just get over 9/11 & ignore it. Suicide bombers & terrorists only get laughter over america grieving over it.... I know ofpeople thatare constantlytrying to get money out of the situation. Same thing with everybody who helped clean the whole mess up. They knew there were gasses that would give you cancer.... I support the ones who died in 9/11, but would they want us grieving, frantic, & upset? I would think not. ^_^ I know I may now get flamed so..... It's in my best interest to leave.

If we should have a moment of silence for all the massacres the brave US soldiers have done all over the world for 'protecting your precious freedom', we would be quiet for the rest of our lives.. having said that I have no problem with oridinary citizens that opposed all the wars.abudjasim

First of all, I appreciate what the thread starter is trying to do, but dont take anything political and bring it here, it's just not the place cause you will get crapped on. Secondly, the "massacres" you're talking about the US soldiers doing might be done for the Iraqis... ever thought of that? The war (which had little to do with terrorism after Afgan) was called, "Operation Iraqi Freedom", and when the US invaded, people were thanking "Mr. Bush" I do recall. And if you dont think Saddam should have been taken out of power, then freaking read about his rape rooms he punished people with, or the killings of thousands of innocent people for nothing. War is a terrible thing, but dont say American soldiers are over there killing to "make the richer rich" as I read some one wrote earlier.

Dude, exactly. No one has evidence, I'm not being a sheep - I have faith in my government to not kill it's own people. That's ridiculous, and if you are an American, you should be ashamed.

Go spew your liberal ignorance elsewhere. If the States didn't stand up to terrorist-friendly countries like Afghanistan, Iraq, and Iran, the free world would be in a lot of trouble.

some of you @$$holes need to stop being disrespectful - i can't believe some of you - show some gratitude - especially for the soldiers fighting so yourasses can sit home and play video games.

TBIRD7280

OMFG... I'm not even gonna justify that with a real answer... you don't tell me they protect me so I can sit on my a$$ playing video games! i've done my time down there fighting the amercian war, and i'm not even american. i dont know what i did is called in english, but we patrolled key zones in the cities, wearing our helmets, wielding our guns and rolling in our humve's. just as a reminder for all the people that they shouldn't do anything wrong. i didnt' encounter any sickos, and i thank every god people ever have belived in for that. i were down ther for 6 fu****** months. yes i got money for it, yes i woulentered, but damn do i regret, its not anything i would envy anyone. to watch the poor, homeless orphants wandering the streets. so don't come here pretending to know shi* about any of this kiddo. you just shouldn't... i got so freaking provoked by this thread, dont think that "just" because 9/11 happened in the USA it's the country we all should feel bad for, YES, it was horrible. but let's also remember there's other countries that's in deeper than the USA...

First of all, you talk about your wife like she is overseeing the world. She doesnt "know exactly what is going on in the world"... and if anything most media is liberal, leaning against the Bush admin. Sorry being "brain washed", maybe I should ask your wife for some guidance.

as a matter of fact yes i just don't want to brag or anything but she is the number 11th rank international lawyer in the world, and recently got a prize in the UK for the best argumentative Barrister, and she was involved with the Saddam trial, and deals with a lot of Palestinian-Israeli courts, and she currently working on a case debating if the US war in Iraq was legal or not...so i think she can help you a lil:D

well, it was all the more reason for bush to go to war with the 'terror' in iraq when he had the backing after the terrible 9/11 attacks, another reason why i think the tradgedy was goverment based.

i hope Iraq settles down soon cause im getting tired of hearing about suicide bombers killing innocent people everyday. I know the Iraqis are not americans but they deserve peace as much as we do i mean Baghdad should be a city where you can walk to school and not be afraid by every van you see. Should be a place where the women can go to the supermarket and shop for food without worrying about being blown up. Thats what Iraq needs now is peace and i hate to say this but Baghdad was a lot safer when Saddam was around. Saddams gone and now we have a powervacuum.

Oh, and note that by its very definition, freedom cannot be given, only taken away.  In the same way that it was never in the white man's power to "free" black slaves, but only to enslave them in the first place, an occupying army wins no liberty, but maintains the captivity of other groups.  I am reminded of Cicero's truism that nothing ever has been gained except by someone else's loss.

Oh, and post this somewhere else.

it was safer, but it could have been delt with in a better way than what happened. the way in which the war was carried out was very provacative and there was bound to be retaliation with passion

Well if that is all true (I dont know why anybody would lie about that) then that's fine and dandy - but I dont consider myself brain washed just cause I support my country. I think the war has gotten out of hand, and is a total wreck, but I do think it was a noble effort, and besides, we had every right to invade. Saddam said in desert storm we could check for WMDs anytime, and this time around,he didnt let us. Why wouldnt we beleive he had WMDs? Now we know he doesnt, but it's was a great mistake. It's horrible the lives soldiers are losing and innocent civilians are losing - but I think if it could have been a clean cut war and been over, it would have been worth it. Now that its like a civil war and chaos everyday, it's hard to say.Saddam was an evil dictator, and his people deserved better. I'm going to get flamed horribly for writing this, but I'm just standing up for my beleives just like you guys are.

Saddam was a horrible man but at least he kept everyone under control even tho his method were questionable, but sometime u dont have any other choices....
