Crank always felt more like a game then a movie, while all the videogame references are great.
Me, I think a game based off of Heat might be cool, going around LA robbing banks and making cash leading up to the events of the film (I imagine Heat could go the way of "The Warriors" and have much of it set before the events of the film).
The Departed is my favorite movie, but I REALLY don't see how that could make a good game.

You actually have a time limit of 72 hours to beat the game and kill everyone in the island otherwise you die and you have to start from the beginning. I can see it being great fun, you have this big island to explore, you can make traps, find weapons etc.

As much as I love Zatoichi I just don't think it would be translated into a game too well, It would be difficult to convey the handicap and pure awesomeness that is Zatoichi. You should check out Ryu Ga Gotaku Kenzan! or Yakuza Kenzan! I ordered it from playasia.com $35 and one of the coolest Samurai setting game I've ever played. There is a walkthrough from ThePatrick which is very through and easy to follow. Well worth the $35 if your into Samurai games.
