I have an xbox 360 and 23 games.  while i do have lost planet and gears and such i already beat them and i dont play them that much.  I just invested in a new 56" hdtv and i want the best BEST hd i can possibly get my question is this.  Should i trade in my xbox 360 and get a ps3?  games like lair--> plugged in through hdmi, programmed at 7.1 surround sound is just an experience that a 360 is ill equipped to deliver.  i know ill be missing out on halo but to me, after being a xbox gamer all these years its nothing more than master chief propaganda.  anyway i know this question should be in system wars... i know this... but every time i post it i get real stupid ps3 fans put against the most merciless and brainwashed and corrupt lemmings who have sold their soul to microsoft.   i am a videogamer--- simply put, i want the best system possible to play the most wide variety of games... not just all the 360's military shooters (enough with tom clancey already) and i want it on a system that can deliver my high expectations of what a true game experience can be..  im not talking graphics  i am talking in game physics, i am talking sound, i am talking about a wide game genre library, i have 23 360 games.... all of them are aa or aaa  alas they are not memorable experiences like zelda, the origional halo, skies of arcadia, or final fantasy x or grandia 1/2/3 .   Is a ps3 the system that can deliver what i need?  i emplore the opinions of actual ps3 owners.  not system war advice talking about things that might happen, and arguments that boil down to the color of the system determining its superiority.

you know the reason i dont want both is because i am one of those easilly abused microsoft pawns that when i pay 50$ a year to play my system online there is a voice in my head telling me to play it because i am paying for it. HENCE if i owned both systems honestly i would feel uncomfortable playing ps3 online because i would feel like the money i am paying for Live is going to waste.  I am a victim of that microsoft advertising plot.  if i just owned a ps3...would i.....would i be free?

i want it on a system that can deliver my high expectations of what a true game experience can be..  im not talking graphics  i am talking in game physics, i am talking sound, i am talking about a wide game genre libraryCrazyIvanIV

Well for now I think you should hold on to your 360. At the moment there are no games for the PS3 that will live up to your expectations of a "true game experience" what I mean is there is yet to be a game on PS3 that takes FULL advantage of it's capabilities. It has the potential to be a great console but it's still finding it's feet.I own a PS3 and the games Ive played so far have been average to OK at best.My suggestion is to wait another 6 months and make up your mind then.

Its best to just have both.

Trade in some of those games that you dont play anymore.

I know what you mean. haha  I would kind of force myself to play online at times just so I would feel I'd be getting something for my $50.   And although I told myself I wouldnt get addicted to achievement points I still found myself grinning a little when I did unlock one.  Now back to your original post.  Unless you want to watch hi-def movies I would say hold on to your 360 for a few more months before trading it in.  The ps3 library is going to be pretty dry on exclusives until Lair comes out in July.  That being said the ps3 is top-notch quality and if you do enjoy movies then it might be ok to get it now.  You just have to realize that there will be a dry spell for a couple of months.

you could trade it all in but you most likely just get the PS3 it self with no games on that trade, one or two if your lucky but that's not the point here.  I started out at gametrailers.come and just got here not even an hour ago but I don't know if you know this already but I'll give you the low down on the 360.  As you know that the PS3 is using the Blu-ray lends and unlike the DVD format the the old Xbox and PS2 used, the DVD only could hold 4.7 gigabytes of data and the Blu-ray format hold a max of 23 gigabytes.  But here is the one thing that's going to get you, the 360 is using the DVD format and not the HD-DVD that could also hold 23 gigs.  When I found out, I was really surprised at this.  When you think about it maybe that's why you got though those game so fast.  If you didn't know about this and need to confirm this just post out a fourm asking what format is the 360 is using.  If you knew already sorry for wasting your time but I'm the type of person who like to spread the news.

Trading it in is probably not smart considering you have so much invested into the system.

DVD has dual layer you know, 8.7gigs around, unless you were saying the old consoles could read single layer, but that would be odd since most dvd players were able to adapte.

Blu-ray has 25 to 50gig discs. I imagine the PS3 will mostly use 25 gig discs until they need hours of HD video for a Final Fantasy game and such.

And again, the 360 DVDs can hold near 9 gigs. And you are wrong with HD-DVD too, those hold 30gigs.

There's no relation to the storage of a DVD and how short a game is (at least at this moment in gaming). Just because a developer might have more space on Blu-ray doesn't mean they'll make a game longer, maybe worry less, but I'm sure most PS3 games would fit on DVD if they had to.  By this logic Motorstorm should of had 100 tracks instead of 8 since they had 50 gigs to work with.
