A positive note on the PS3, no more memory cards.

LM here,

I personally don't really like the PS3 and won't get one till its last year available, if i do. The only thing i used to like about it was the Blu-ray player built into it, which is actually cheaper bought as the PS3 than a stand-alone Blu-ray player. I also just found out that the PS3 stores all your game files on its hard drive, they just have to be transferred from the memory card to the PS3 HDD itself. This is an absolutely great idea. The only drawback of this is that other video game companies (Nintendo, Microsoft) would have to spend more money to integrate a hard drive into their console and allow all save files and other unlockables to be stored this way. It may be a while at least till Nintendo and Microsoft follow suit. Good job Sony. For once you do something right with the PS3.

So what if you don't have a memory card and you play PSX and PS2 games on the PS3 for the first time, does this mean that the PSX game will notice the PS3 HDD and automatically save to the HDD and not look for a PSX card?

I think he ment that ALL Playstation 3s have an HDD, as the Xbox 360 doesn't becuase the core 360 doesn't come with an HDD.

Thank you, that's what I meant. I also meant that the 360 still uses an external memory card to save files, instead of using the internal HDD to store save files and unlockables like the PS3.

Everything gets saved to the HDD on the Premium system or if you buy the HDD for the core system. The external Memory card is for those who want the core and no HDD (doesnt make sense to me either those who want to go this route)

Since no one answered his question about playing PSX and PS2 games on the PS3 for the first time I'll go ahead and do so. What the PS3 does it create "virtual memory cards" that act just like the standard PS2 memory card and when you play a PS2 game you assign two memory cards to slot 1 and 2 just like there would be on a PS2 or PSX. To create new save data, you simply just save to a newly created "virtual memory card" which you can have infinite of (assuming there is space on your hard drive, but 8 mb is peanuts on a 60gb hard drive).

Pablo has a hilarious signature. That reminds me of those Bagel Bites commercials. Wii in the morning, Wii in the evening, Wii at supper time. When you can actually find a Wii ,you can have Wii anytime.
