Yeah, sounds like you have a bad blu-ray drive. BTW the blue light signals a disc is in the drive. Its not any kind of error indicator.

Yeh, that's a shame. PS3 is probably the most reliable console out there, I suppose its only the drive thats broken after all.

At least Sony have always had a good warranty, they replaced my PS2 after about 14 months of ownership, and then they sent me thue disc back that I'd left in there on accident :P

Good ol' Sony, if only their marketing section wasn't dragging the whole company down.

ok i was looking through the forums last night and saw Blue/green flash HELP or similar, i was on my PS3 at the time so i was in no mood to wait for it to load up. My point is, a unoffical PS3 bug has been going around 1 day now every bugger has it!

Strange that all other console have there faults but not made public the second the PS3 has one (i betting its fake or a unlucky batch) it all over the place

Get what i mean?

The ring of death is EVERYWHERE, so your statement is slightly flawed.

Anyway to the TC, just a run of bad luck. People who have had to send there's in said it only took around a week to send it out and recieve their replacement and they've all worked wonderfully. Don't worry. You'll be gaming again in no time. :)

I bet Sony will start making stupid little bugs for the 60 gig machines with the EE chip..that way they can swap them out for the software emulation.. they can finally phase out the EE chips and push the bigger HD models.. I bet you!!!

just a quick update for everyone.

Sony emailed me a barcode, i took it with the console to my local post office on Monday. The post officeprovided the bubble wrap, box and all postage for free.

On tuesday i received an email from Sony stating they have received my console and as soon as they check it out and make sure the fault isnt a result of my negligence (i.e i dropped etc) they will send me a remanufactured model from the same period or close to, so im pretty sure i will still have the EE chip in mine.

Today (wednesday) i got another email saying my new console is being posted to me today with all the tracking numbers etc. With a bit of luck i hope to get it tomorrow.

Although i was a little dissapointed that it had died, i must give credit to Sony Australiafor the level of their service and prompt response.

Never heard of this, you're one of the unlucky few. My system has been amazingly stable, considering the amount of time I've had it on since December and the amount of heat it should supposedly generate.

Story's like this from the TC is what will make Sony number one again. They are not always big on advertising a lot instead just deliver outstanding customer service that goes a lot farther than all the advertising in the world.

ok,

i came home from work today and putin Ninja Gaidentohave a bit of a play before heading out.The blue light cameon and it tried loading the disc to no avail, the light remained on and the screen stayed on the XMB. So i took the disc out and put itback in and same thing happened. I tried RFoM and R6 as well as a few BD movies and still nothing. Everything else works and downloaded demos also work. So i figure its an issue with the optical drive. Considering i've had the PS3 for 5 weeks, this doesnt fill me confidence for the future.

Has anyone had this happen and how did you fix it?

Im sending my console back to Sony and they are sending me back a refurbished model as a replacement.

I'll update on how it goes if anyone is interested.

I think your one of the 1% that has a faulty PS3 but don't go for a 360 it has a 75% failure rate.
