Yes, i bought it. I have not played it yet, but i will start in a minute.

For me, the only game that has delivered what i consider a true next gen experience has been Gears of War.

I am hoping that HS will deliver that kind of experience to me on the PS3.

At the most, i will have waisted $30 because thats what the current trade-in value is...and $30 is worth it to play this game. So it works out well enough even if the game fails to live up to everyones hype.

So....here i go........................................

its not a dissapointment if you plan to trade it in for the 30 bucks. i bought it last week, got extremely frustraited with how cheap the last battle was. None of the boss battles feel very rewarding and the only times i got hit was when they would do a cheap undodgeable move. but the presentation is amazing the cut scenes and cool as hell. defanitly worth playing through. they really nailed he main character. Cant wait for the second one although ill probably rent it. Im going to trade HS in for halo 3 and get that 20% extra on my trade in.

I'm a little over 1/2 way thru it and I'm lovin it. Showy, entertaining and definitely fun. I would love to see some of the rumoured downloadable content for this game. One of the rumours was an online (and/or) multiplayer arena battle add-on. If that never shows up then bring on HS2....

Should have rented it... I only played 3 hours of it... I'm at whiptale or some thing... The snake/fish woman.

Some of the VO's sound like people put their lips on the mic and talked. Also there is some out of sync lips to voice. Not to mention alot of the cut scenes tend to chug hard core... Because they are loading data from the hard drive.

Did I mention it takes 2 GB's of HDD space? It didn't even ask me if I wanted to install it or not... It just did it.

The levels all feel the same. Because they are small arena type areas you fight in. Which they flood with people for you to button mash on.

I don't know... Maybe when I feel like playing some more and getting farther in I will change my mind. But this is defiantly 7.0 game max.

P.S.

When you get to the motion sensing parts of the game... Don't over do it... Move the controller slightly or you will pay if you over do it.

So far 1 hour in....I love the catapult section. the cinemas, acting and presentation are good...but i don't find the graphics to be especially awe inspiring. The textures are actually kind of bland in spots, but the faces are really well done. Frame rate seems a little spotty or low...not quiet as fluid as i expected it to be. The actual fighting is fun enough, but its nothing i have not seen before....its very linear. Im not getting the jaw dropping experience i had with Gears of War, so im not going to put the game up on that level...at this point anyway. Its all still very entertaining, but im not finding it to be "the best ever" . i truly hope to see much better on the PS3 in time to come.

i was really mad at the length, but that was definetly a really fun 6 hours or so. The game is super easy until the last battle, took me to my third time to beat the boss. But the presentation is so damn good in the game, best voice acting ever in a game most likely. It does kind of play like a movie, a really decent movie at that too. Sequal needed.

You will not regret it. Yes, the game is short. The thing is, the whole 7 hour experience is jam-packed with excitement. You aren't randomly killing enemies for the hell of it. I am on my third playthrough, and I will probably play it again. The game is short enough that I will probably play through it 10 times or more, whereas with a 40 hour game I will play it once and forget it. I think the replay value of this game is very high.

Don't even use the motion sensor. Just go to options and turn it off. It makes the cannon vs catapult and Kai's mission levels go a lot smoother. It's more fun and less frustrating.

I've played Gears, and while the graphics are impressive... what exactly was so "jaw-dropping" about it?

The voice acting, motion capture performances, and the story of HS all kick the ass off of Gears.

The demo isn't that impressive. The actual game is surprisingly good. I was expecting about a 7.5 but the game feels more like a 9.0 to me, if it was about double the length, had a survival mode and the framerate was touched up near the end of the game, I could see a definite GOTY candidate.

NGS on the other hand, I thought was one of the most overrated series ever. The gameplay is fun, the boss fights are pretty cool, but the presentation is awful, and I hope you're prepared to run through the same environments 15-20 times. Say hi to Han's bar for me. Good game, but if HS was the same length, I think HS would annihilate NGS.

yeah i played through this game on my sony hdtv and i was constantly yelling to my roomates "guys come look at this", andeven though they are fans of the other system, they stood there in awe. the way the game was made was amazing, but of course the biggest flaw is the length. but i always found myself amazed throughout the whole game til the amazing ending. i still just cant get over the graphics and animations (and yes i own all of the other consoles also)

So far...i get no awe. I just finished fighting that Fox guy, what a fruit loop he was. Fun, and funny ..yes. But the whole thing looks like a very good PS2 game in spots ( technically ) not so great, blurry textures and a lot of screen glitching or screen tearing. Im not trying to be overly picky...thats just what i see. Its not ruining the game, but i dont see this as a exceptional graphics presentation. Right now im viewing this as a highly polished bit of interactive media entertainment, but definatley not a first class video game.

Holy cow! Looks like another xbot looking for an excuse to hate on a good PS3 game. :) Looky here...it was YOU that put yourself in an impossible situation and much too high expectations. This game rates around a 80% the net. It's a very good game, although short. Now, if you want to go and try and compare it to Gears. That's your fault. Also, be aware that there are xbots that hate "artsty" type games and absolutly love war and carnage games like UT3 and Gears. So, there's definitely a style difference. So, spare us the "definatley not a first class video game." You set yourself up for a disappointment.

Heavenly sword honestly would impress me, but it has 2 major flaws that this generation of gaming has had troubles with. 1. It has a brown color tone, all the way through the game. It looks like crap. 2. The framerate is very low. Just because film is filmed at 24fps, doesn't mean this game has to play at 24fps that it looks to be like, because it certainly doesn't look as smooth as 30fps. Guaranteed its not 60fps but thats no big deal.

Looky here. I dont happen to think HS should be held up as a role model for best of the best for PS3. I am enjoying the game. But god help ps3 if this is what every game should aspire to be like. Its too short, too repetitive, been there /done that God of War gameplay and the graphics are not nearly good enough, blurry , unsharp muddy textures abound, glitches and hiccups and tearing video. Spare me the "artistic" argument as that is usually a excuse for hiding flaws. Its a good piece of entertainment...just a bit expensive and a bit shallow...no real skill needed. Most anyone can button mash their way through it. Not exactly a high mark for video game greatness.

[QUOTE="btc138"]yeah i played through this game on my sony hdtv and i was constantly yelling to my roomates "guys come look at this", andeven though they are fans of the other system, they stood there in awe. the way the game was made was amazing, but of course the biggest flaw is the length. but i always found myself amazed throughout the whole game til the amazing ending. i still just cant get over the graphics and animations (and yes i own all of the other consoles also)Videodogg

So, there's definitely a ****difference. So, spare us the "definatley not a first ****video game." You set yourself up for a disappointment.

I agree with you, I made the mistake buying Lair, so I decided to rent HS and thank god I did becuase it's just not worth the money at all, even if it does have downloadable content its probably gonna cost some more $$$, its a good game while it lasts, I learned my lesson I'm only going to buy ps3 games after I rent them or play a demo.

But it could be the people that only own a PS3 like those type of games better than gears or ut3 and that's one of the reason they wont buy a 360. And that's why they love HS. Demographics and tastes. Yes, there are even PS2 owners that don't like God of War. Yes, they do exist. And that's why the PS was great since it had a lot to offer over time (adventure, rpg/jrpg, fps, tps, puzzle/stragety, etc...).

"Videodogg wrote: I dont happen to think HS should be held up as a role model for best of the best for PS3. " Oh, my..."best for the PS3?" It's one of the better games. Not "the best." There are people that love these type of games and you don't. Oh well, Cry me a river...:( Many have already stated that game is short and lacks features. But for you to use statements like, "God help the PS3 if this is what every game should aspire to be like" is really dumb. You got to be kidding? Do you really believe the tripe you post? Come on! How old are you? 12? You do know that more games will be made? Or are you just trying to ignore that and pretend that "all games will be just like HS." :D Do you want to continue? Or do you want me to break down your argument again.

Screen Glitching? Dude...get your PS3 checked out. I saw none of that. The game was great and loads of fun. That's the important bit there - it was fun. It also happened to look awesome.

Speak for yourself. I own both consoles and I absolutely love HS. It impresses me much more than many 360 games. I really hate when people rate an entire game by whether it has multiplayer or not. Most people don't really care about multiplayer, and if you want to steriotype, it is 360 fans that stress multiplayer, like it is the end all be all of what a good game should be. Bioshock doesn't have multiplayer, did that make it any less of a great game?

Gears story was not that good. HS story is much better. HS presentation is also much better. Gears only wins in technical merits. Besides, why are you even comparing Gears, and HS? They are two different genres.
