Against my better judgment, i bought Heavenly Sword.

Should have rented it... I only played 3 hours of it... I'm at whiptale or some thing... The snake/fish woman.

Some of the VO's sound like people put their lips on the mic and talked. Also there is some out of sync lips to voice. Not to mention alot of the cut scenes tend to chug hard core... Because they are loading data from the hard drive.

Did I mention it takes 2 GB's of HDD space? It didn't even ask me if I wanted to install it or not... It just did it.

The levels all feel the same. Because they are small arena type areas you fight in. Which they flood with people for you to button mash on.

I don't know... Maybe when I feel like playing some more and getting farther in I will change my mind. But this is defiantly 7.0 game max.

P.S.

When you get to the motion sensing parts of the game... Don't over do it... Move the controller slightly or you will pay if you over do it.

Delete the game info when you're done.

Do you even own a PS3? All I see in your profile are X360 ratings.

Don't even use the motion sensor. Just go to options and turn it off. It makes the cannon vs catapult and Kai's mission levels go a lot smoother. It's more fun and less frustrating.

So far 1 hour in....I love the catapult section. the cinemas, acting and presentation are good...but i don't find the graphics to be especially awe inspiring. The textures are actually kind of bland in spots, but the faces are really well done. Frame rate seems a little spotty or low...not quiet as fluid as i expected it to be. The actual fighting is fun enough, but its nothing i have not seen before....its very linear. Im not getting the jaw dropping experience i had with Gears of War, so im not going to put the game up on that level...at this point anyway. Its all still very entertaining, but im not finding it to be "the best ever" . i truly hope to see much better on the PS3 in time to come.Videodogg

I've played Gears, and while the graphics are impressive... what exactly was so "jaw-dropping" about it?

The voice acting, motion capture performances, and the story of HS all kick the ass off of Gears.

I found those missions to be more fun with the motion sensor on.

the missions with the motion sensing were so intense with the motion on. they were some of the most fun. When they talk about downloadable content dont be surprised to see some kind of kai twing twang mini games.

[QUOTE="btc138"]yeah i played through this game on my sony hdtv and i was constantly yelling to my roomates "guys come look at this", andeven though they are fans of the other system, they stood there in awe. the way the game was made was amazing, but of course the biggest flaw is the length. but i always found myself amazed throughout the whole game til the amazing ending. i still just cant get over the graphics and animations (and yes i own all of the other consoles also)Videodogg

So far...i get no awe. I just finished fighting that Fox guy, what a fruit loop he was. Fun, and funny ..yes. But the whole thing looks like a very good PS2 game in spots ( technically ) not so great, blurry textures and a lot of screen glitching or screen tearing. Im not trying to be overly picky...thats just what i see. Its not ruining the game, but i dont see this as a exceptional graphics presentation. Right now im viewing this as a highly polished bit of interactive media entertainment, but definatley not a first class video game.

Holy cow! Looks like another xbot looking for an excuse to hate on a good PS3 game. :) Looky here...it was YOU that put yourself in an impossible situation and much too high expectations. This game rates around a 80% the net. It's a very good game, although short. Now, if you want to go and try and compare it to Gears. That's your fault. Also, be aware that there are xbots that hate "artsty" type games and absolutly love war and carnage games like UT3 and Gears. So, there's definitely a ****difference. So, spare us the "definatley not a first ****video game." You set yourself up for a disappointment.

Looky here. I dont happen to think HS should be held up as a role model for best of the best for PS3. I am enjoying the game. But god help ps3 if this is what every game should aspire to be like. Its too short, too repetitive, been there /done that God of War gameplay and the graphics are not nearly good enough, blurry , unsharp muddy textures abound, glitches and hiccups and tearing video. Spare me the "artistic" argument as that is usually a excuse for hiding flaws. Its a good piece of entertainment...just a bit expensive and a bit shallow...no real skill needed. Most anyone can button mash their way through it. Not exactly a high mark for video game greatness.

dude get your head out of your you know what...ive played GoW for the 360...its a great game...the graphics and gameplay are impressive...but HS is superior when it comes to animation, cutscenes, story, and graphics...look your either a gamer..or a FPS lover..so get your judgement of HS out of here....ive never seen some1 say games shouldn aspire to be like HS...dude HS is a masterpiece, yes its short.....I cant wait for HS-2...so they can learn from their mistake...but even though HS is short to some ppl...its still hands down the most impressive game to hit any console hands down...

Its sad to see the board posters doing personal attacks...

If you need to argue... argue the point... not the persons age, mental state, etc... its just too shamefully low...

And crawling and checking peoples posting history and profile is just plain creepy man...

I bet anybody who claims that HS is too short, too easy, lacking gameplay, simple button-mashing, and not worth buying has less then 30 glyphs at the end. For these people this game is clearly not for them.

I havent played the full game yet, but I have played the demo.

Everyone has opinions so ill share mine with you... Ive owned Gears of War... didnt really like it. No sure why but the Multiplayer was terrible.. I couldnt get into it and it just didnt feel good to me. The single player had a good story and whatever, but I was never compelled to complete it.

The HS demo held my attention longer than Gears did. So im sure I would play through the whole game on HS.

I honestly ended the game with like 30 or so but I didnt even know about them. Im playing the game through again now (on normal) to see if I can get more. I also noticed I didnt even unlock all the combos. But yea, Im finding that if you want those glyphs you kinda have to work for them. I could only manage 2 and change on the Heavenly Sword level which was annoying because I literally had to fight like 50 dudes.

And a sidenote thats a bit off topic. Many people have been complaining about the arena ****of the game. But tell me, whats the difference between fighting in an arena and fighting in a giant room with a big face blocking the door? Its basically the same idea. Just most straight forward and to the point.

I guess Gears is the Holy Grail for all 360 fanboys. But what I don't understand is the two games aren't even in the same genre.Gears is a FPS, uses guns instead of swords, and the story doesn't really focus on one central character allowing for online multiplayer. HS is almost the exact opposite.

Im not comparing the games directly. Rather, the experience. Gears really floored me last year and i was hoping for a similar experience with HS. Sadly, i am not getting that type of OMG feeling with this game. But, to its credit, i am compelled to play it..its hard to put down because it is enjoyable.

I really cant speak on this subject TOO well personally. I only played gears co-op at a friends house and that ups the fun of ANY game no matter what youre really playing.

IE : Playing crackdown alone after playing co-op is almost impossible to do.

But I will say that I dont feel myself being really drawn in with Gears gameplay as much. Its a very lather rinse repeat experience. Its one of the most repetitive games Ive played but its repeating fun gameplay so you cant complain too much. I just feel the totality of the experience isnt the same. The story isnt there, the only interesting character is the football player but only because he had he had the best one liners ("look at all that juuuuuice..."). There were no interesting enemies, the presentation was very cookie cutter. It just wasnt anything great. But like I said, its fun as F so none of that other stuff really matters.

I guess everybody has their preference.

For anybody who finds HS easy or boring, really try to earn those glyphs (3 per stage) and really try to learn some of the other combos. The game becomes so much more enjoyable when you try to use some of the 40+ amazing combos that are unlockable and available. If you play using the same 3 or 4 combos over and over, not only will you get a serious butt-whipping, but the game will appear very boring. Mix stances in the middle of a combo and when it comes to the last poor guy standing out of a group, finish him off with a gravity-defying arial combo. Mix in a little countering and dodging and for kicks, carry a dead guy into the next stage with you and toss him at the first group of guys coming at you like a big bowling ball.

Great post. People almost fail to realize that they have ALL of this stuff available to them and they have the choice to use it. Just because you dont doesnt make the gamepaly repetitive. Only the player can make it repetitive in this case much like Bioshock.

They give you all sorts of crap but you can honestly make it through a bulk of that game with the shock plasmid. But those who choose to delve in the game and DO more enjoy they game a lot more. Its that simple.

Kind of add cause I think it looks alot better than a PS2 game. Maybe you have a really crappy tv?

But than again I can almost say the same thing about God of War 2 so. And that one of the best games of last year "or this year??"

Please do not troll in the PS3 forums, being a fakeboy is pathetic. Your profile only has 360 game reviews.

I bet the guy got his 360 first making him a 360 fanboy at heart. like me, i got a PS3 first and a 360 second. No 360 game has wowed me so i kinda see where he is coming from. HS wowed me, but GEOW didnt. Then again i just started playin the 360. He is impressed by the scale of the game from what it sounds. I believe everyone should be impressed by the size of batltes in HS.

As far as the graphics are concerned, I assume people don't realize that the cut scenes are not pre-rendered CGI movies but actual real-time rendered animations. I'm pretty sure the PS2 is NOT capable of rending such graphics real-time. And that would explain any slight glitch you see here and there. Next time you see a cut-scene (especially the split-screen one where you see the arena as well as a close up of the villian), try to appreciate that what you are seeing is NOT pre-rendered. Heck, I was impressed with the simple chapter select screen where there's a close-up of Nariko. The fact that her skin actaully has sweat on it that catches highlights shows the game's attention to detail. And tell me of another game that shows subtle facial expressions....through motion capture....rendered in real time.

Thank you! people actually think the cut scenes are CGI, which is a compliment when you think about it. Those cut scenes are all in engine. The cut scene and game graphics are virtuallythe same, only the cut scene zooms in on the faces, where as the action zooms out. You can tellin the stage selectwhen she is talking zoomed up close, and thenit zooms out to choose a stage. When it zooms out, she looks just like when you are controller her in action. This game has sick graphics. To say any part of this game looks like a PS2 game kills any credibility the TC had. Or maybe he should buy a new television, cause his has to be broken.

This game has sick graphics. To say any part of this game looks like a PS2 game kills any credibility the TC had. Or maybe he should buy a new television, cause his has to be broken.

[QUOTE="btc138"]yeah i played through this game on my sony hdtv and i was constantly yelling to my roomates "guys come look at this", andeven though they are fans of the other system, they stood there in awe. the way the game was made was amazing, but of course the biggest flaw is the length. but i always found myself amazed throughout the whole game til the amazing ending. i still just cant get over the graphics and animations (and yes i own all of the other consoles also)mazdero

Whats funny {I have read alot of the topics} The people who only own the ps3 are more in awe and love this game, The people who own both consoles are not that impressed. Like me, YES TO ME GEARS WAS 10 TIMES BETTER ADD MULTIPLAYER I played that game on live for 6 months

Speak for yourself. I own both consoles and I absolutely love HS. It impresses me much more than many 360 games. I really hate when people rate an entire game by whether it has multiplayer or not. Most people don't really care about multiplayer, and if you want to steriotype, it is 360 fans that stress multiplayer, like it is the end all be all of what a good game should be. Bioshock doesn't have multiplayer, did that make it any less of a great game?

Gears story was not that good. HS story is much better. HS presentation is also much better. Gears only wins in technical merits. Besides, why are you even comparing Gears, and HS? They are two different genres.

Completely agree. I own all three next-gen consoles, 360 is easily my favorite at the moment, but I have to say I enjoyed HS as much as any 360 game I've played.

Nope, he's just a 360 fanboy.

Kind of add cause I think it looks alot better than a PS2 game. Maybe you have a really crappy tv?
