everytime i see a game at a high rating its always numbered?

Killzone 2

Resistance 2

Rockband 2

There's a level of reliability people have in sequels because they already know what to expect. They play the new game and it's the same formula they enjoyed from the first game, but tweaked to a a degree that is better than the predecessor, which in it's essence, is the whole reason behind sequels.

To develop a completely new game that is recieved well is quite an accomplishment, and I think the company that's got the most of those this gen is EA.
