Sadly, I think wireless is going to have to be the way you go.

Maybe you could try a USB adapter, but I'd doubt that'd work.

I don't mean to poke, because I know you said your english is bad, but my god does this sound strangely dirty. :P Anyways, you wouldn't even need to ask how you would know a wireless router if you had one. So I'm pretty sure you probably don't.

Buy a Wireless Router > Connect your "Router" that is not wireless > configure your Wireless router > test your ps3 if it detects it > confirm everything is working properly and viola! :D sit back, relax and play all night long! ^^

You may try to open your PS3 and change the ethernet port manually but it is not the thing I would recommend. Does your router have antenna looking things coming out of it?

No more warranty and there is always the risk of breaking it with your own hands. If your modem has antenna like things coming out of it it means that it is wireless. Only thing you have to do is scan for it on your PS3.

It is possible but its really hard 2 do, can take a lot of time.

Also ur router may have wireless, my router has inbuilt antennas, to make itnot look ugly.

I gotta agree, I used to connect my PS3 over wireless but since being forced to use wired one weekend after I killed my wireless router with a dodgy flash upgrade I found that I started to do a lot better in CoD4 :)

You mentioned you're low on funds, but isn't your PS3 still under warranty?
If so, I think it can be repaired free of charge. If not, I wonder whether you
ought to have it sent in anyhow, since these other methods people are
suggesting would likely cost you just as much. Aside from that, you'd do
well to have your PS3 in top condition, right?

There is absolutely no reason the lag on a good wireless connection should be any higher than a wired connection by any discernible amount. Also, if you play a game that has ping graphs you absolutely can tell if you are lagging or not. I get about 30Mbps over my wireless connection, and my Internet connection is only 2Mbps.

Oh, yes, there is. Wired is full duplex and switched. Wireless is half-duplex and not switched. What's the difference? Well, a switched, full duplex connection means full bandwitdh in both directions simultaniously. Even if there's more than one device on the network, you are still guaranteed full speed between each device and the switched. A half-duplex connection means you can only send or receive, not both at the same time. Also, since it is not switched, you have to share the bandwidth with every other wireless device on the network. Usually, the bottleneck would be the internet connection, but if you have several wireless devices going, that half-duplex is going to hurt ...

Remember, you only et 50-60% of your bandwith MAX when wireless no matter how close you are to the router.
