I thought Sony did an OUTSTANDING job at E3. It was decently paced (admittedly it DID drag in a few places...) and there were plenty of surprises and exclusives shown.. especially in comparrison to the other pressers...

yet even Kotaku is saying it was lackluster etc.

Am I too bias to have seen some kind of glaring flaws? I mean, it wasn't their best year... but with a day-and-date release date for GT5, Twisted Metal being official, WITH gameplay, Deals with EA, AND move looking "decent"... How is it Sony "underperformed"?

I mean.. KEVIN FREAKIN' BUTLER!!!

:/ I figured I was pretty level headed... but to see this much contrast between the majority opinion and my own... what the hell is going on?

I agree, it was a good showing. Certainly better than Microsoft and Nintendo IMO.

I like it. Was hoping for Mass Effect to be announced for the PS3, but it didn't happen. But it might have gotten me to possibly buy a few games I wouldn't have done before.

How can you say he's a fanboy if he thought something and then say we have free will? It makes him someone with a differing opinion, not a fanboy.

I just read some reviews from IGN, and they had really nothing bad to say... but I guess IGN is pretty well known to also favor Sony. I dunno. I guess it really only matters what I think.. but I'd just like to not feel like I'm in a minority anymore by supporting Sony. It seems like thats been a constant pressure since I invested in Sony again this gen (at launch). I mean, thats just the kinda person I am, yeah.. but jeez Why does Sony have to be the "underdog" this gen :P

Fanboy? It's an opinion. Either you like it, or you don't. It's a press conference...

Personally? Compared to other years. This was done a lot better. Especially with the popularity of Kevin Butler and the part of the PS3 cycle we're in.

I believe Sony did a good job with their presentation. It was miles better than Microsoft's, in my opinion.

While both companies went on about their respective motion controls system, it felt like Microsoft went on waaaaay too much about Kinect and made it feel like a gimmicky, casual approach. Sony showed more games, packs, the PSN+.

Oh, and Twisted Metal ftw.

Sony actually sold me on the motion control when I saw Sorcerer, Time Crisis, and heard Dead Space Extraction announced, so I consider the time spent presenting the Move a success. I also thought they balanced the video montages and on-stage surprises nicely, with Kevin Butler, the Valve guy, and Twisted Metal 3. Admiteddly I didn't see Microsoft or Nintendo's presentations, I just didn't see anything wrong with Sony's. I would've liked a DC Universe demonstration but they had more important things to show us for the first time.

Here's how I see that. We already know FFv13, The Agency, and The Last Guardian exist, so we will almost definitely see them (at least two of the three) at TGS. R3 is all but a lock (i mean, seriously, the only reason i don't say 100% is because there is always a small chance something completely out of left field could happen), and the whole PSP2 thing is rumored EVERY year. I dunno, I was happy with what they did give us. Particularly the GT5 date. Sure i'd have preferred a date closer to.. well..now... Nov. 2nd is good enough! if they'd have not dated GT5, and not shown TM, I'd probably agree that it was rather lackluster. but those two details put it right up there with nintendo. As far as being the best presser, I don't know. Content, and presentation wise, yes. Exclusive wise, and giving people what they wanted, I'd have to say nintendo took that. For me, Nintendo set the bar, and Sony limbo'd it... they stepped up to the plate, and delivered. That said, as a PS3 only owner, and previously an absolute wii hater (I have been known to state i'd sooner buy a $200 t-shirt, let alone a 360 than a wii), I am starting to change my opinion about that shirt. :P That said, I'm hoping this is a turnaround point for Sony. They started to pick up momentum, and just when MS had the opportunity to strike back, they faltered, and Sony had (at the very least) a better showing of actual games. So as far as the two big HD consoles go, Sony will (hopefully) bridge the gap in sales this holiday with, if nothing else, GT5 alone. I just hope they pump out some SERIOUS cash to adverts.

It was very good, the only thing was no Last Guardian which was a huge missed opportunity to me. Though they had a 2 hour show so they showed plenty.

It was good. The best part for me was probably when GLaDOS started talking and then Gabe Newell came out on stage :D The second I heard that voice I knew it meant Portal 2 was coming to the PS3!

But it was reeeaaally dragging during the first half with all the Move and PSP talk. I'm kinda surprised they didn't talk about the Sly Collection more than they did. He just kinda mentioned it :? Overall I'd say it was good. Maybe not quite as good as Nintendo's, but it was a good conference anyway :)

Yes. Sony's conference was just a little bit better than Microsoft's. Though I supposed Nintendo kind of deserved a break as their past three or four conferences have all been embarassingly awful. Still, this year was no 599 US dollar or massive damage catastrophe.

I loved Sony's conference. I wasn't expecting to like it as much as I did. The Move convinced me and looked much better than Kinect did, but this is mostly due in part to Sorcery looking awesome (Time Crisis doesn't hurt). The fact of the matter is that Sony did push forward with this conference. I was extremely excited to see Infamous 2, Killzone 3, Gran Turismo 5, and Twisted Metal get their attention. Kevin Butler was funnier in 10 minutes than McHale was during the entire Ubisoft conference. And the ideas and goals Sony set up seem reasonable and obtainable.

I'm not a fanboy, either. I play the 360 and I was looking forward to Microsoft's conference.I was massively disappointed with it. Halo Reach and Gears 3 looked alright but it kind of bothered me that they performed long stage demos to third party games, like Call of Duty Black Ops. Make mention sure, but if you're showcasing something that PS3/PC is also getting that just seems dumb. Sony did this too, I suppose, but the demos of Dead Space 2 and Medal of Honor pushed to show the exclusive content between Sony and EA.

I enjoyed it, but Sony did leave me with some questions.

- Will I need the Move to play Time Crisis and Dead Space Extraction?

- Each and every one of those 3D titles, such as Sly Collection, will fully function in 2D correct? I'm sure they won't abandon their central market, but you never know what route a developer might take. It was nice of Guerrilla to immediately let us know Killzone 3's 2D functionality. Just one of those curiosities.

And of course I did want Resistance 3, Last Guardian, and Agent, but eh, time will reveal all those soon enough. I was happy with what we got.

IT was awesome. MS focused way to much on the casual stuff, as did Ubisoft.. I couldn't understand half the people at the Nintendo conference (I mean honestly when whats his name was trying to tell everyone about the 3DS i wish the crowd would have just went monty python with a big "GET ON WITH IT!") Also PS still imo does the best montages ;)

That's what I thought. For some reason I remember reading somewhere that Batman: Arkham Asylum GOTY edition only worked in 3D but I think the actual line was "B:AA GOTY Edition's only difference is the function to now play in 3D".

Anyway, yeah DS: Extraction is the rail shooter and I was very happy to hear it was coming to the PS3. I wouldn't be shocked if TC and DC:E were made exclusives to push the Move but how hard can it be to make it work with a normal controller?

Oh yeah, rail gun shooters commonly suck with a gamepad. Ever play House of the Dead without a gun, it actually hurts for some reason.

But I really like the Dead Space universe and according to EA when I buy Dead Space 2 I'll be getting Extraction for free. It would kind of suck getting a free game I've wanted to play but still won't have the ability to do so.

Extraction might work with a controller if only because of the bundle deal. I don't know though.

I thought Sony had a very good show, and I couldn't care less what Kotaku thought of it. The Killzone 3 demo was freakin' stupendous, GT5 got a release date (and it's looking pretty fabulous), Portal 2 on the PS3 will be better than the other console (and tubby eating all that crow was pretty entertaining too), we get PSN+ free for 3 months, we can get Dead Space Extraction along with Dead Space 2, and Kevin Butler had me laughing out loud. The conference dragged a bit in the middle with all the game montages and PSP stuff, but it finished up strong. I'm not terribly interested in Little Big Planet 2, but it looks like they've done some really impressive stuff with it - I'm sure the people who like that game will have a fantastic time with it. I'm also not too interested in Twisted Metal, but a lot of people were really hoping to hear something about it and they got their wish. They could have had some info on various exclusives like Resistance 3, Agent, Motorstorm 3, The Last Guardian, the Final Fantasy stuff, etc., but oh well. They'll still be just as good when they come out even if we didn't get an updated trailer yesterday.

Yes :P It's no secret I like Sony's offerings the most out of the 3 but I was let down by the end of the conference. After some time to ponder it was a solid showing, just underwhelming. I liked the light-hearted enthusiastic tone throughout- minus the sales/statistics waffle. The Kevin Butler (VP of sharpening objects) & Gabe Newell appearances were funny. It's great that they're really competitive now with multiplats but I didn't want 20 minutes centred around multiplat deals when we could have 1st party announcements and trailers. No Starhawk, Resistance, Team ICO to be seen.

Ramble, ramble. So- solid but underwhelming. They outmaneuvered MS at every turn yet had the horrible fortune of following Nintendo.

the one thing that i was hoping to hear was the inclusion of more ps2 titles being remade, and if there was going to be a (good) way to play psp games on your ps3.

other than that..pretty standard press conference. glad they didnt spend forever on the move and kevin butler alone should make sony win. best guest of e3 by far.
